    Abstract: A method and apparatus for compressing a digitized image. Boundaries of regions within a digitized image are identified. Shapes are selected from a bank of shapes based on the identified boundaries to represent the regions. Position and size information based on the position and size of the regions within the digitized image are associated with the selected shapes. Values are transmitted indicating the selected shapes and the associated position and size information as a representation of the digitized image.
