  • Patent number: 9181406
Abstract: Solid additive particles are added to solid vinylidene chloride (VDC) polymer particles by a process comprising the steps of: A. Polymerizing VDC monomer, optionally with one or more mono-ethylenically unsaturated comonomers, in a polymerization zone under polymerization conditions to form solid VDC polymer particles; B. Stopping the polymerization of the VDC monomers after formation of the solid VDC polymer particles; and C. Contacting the solid VDC polymer particles with the solid additive particles (i) before the solid VDC polymer particles are de-watered, and (ii) at a temperature sufficient to melt or soften the solid additives particles but insufficient to melt or soften the solid VDC polymer particles such that the melted or softened solid additive particles adhere to the solid VDC polymer particles upon contact.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 13, 2012
Date of Patent: November 10, 2015
    Assignee: Dow Global Technologies LLC

  • Patent number: 6627679
Abstract: A process for preparing barrier polymer compositions comprises adding an additive, in the form of a latex, to an aqueous dispersion of barrier polymer particles, coagulating the latex additive on the surface of the polymer particles to coat the polymer particles and then drying the latex-coated polymer particles.

  • Patent number: 6291565
Abstract: Vinylidene chloride polymer compositions comprising a vinylidene chloride polymer and from about 2 to about 12 weight percent of a glycerin ester provide films which exhibit oxygen transmission rates sufficiently low to protect gassy cheeses from spoilage but sufficiently high to let any excess CO2 produced during the cheese curing process escape from the packaged gassy cheeses.

Inventors: Susan M. Kling, Bernard E. Obi
  • Patent number: 5342910
Abstract: A process for preparing a polymer or copolymer from polymerizable monomers by suspension polymerization whereby foam formation during the removal of residual monomers is inhibited, which process comprises adding at least one salt of an inorganic acid having an anionic valency of at least 2 to the polymer slurry prior to the removal of the residual monomer.
