Patent number: 11507993Abstract: Modifying a recipe for food based on a geographic origin of produce in the recipe is disclosed. A recipe is identified by a data processing system for a food dish, produce procured for the recipe from source(s), and determines a geographic origin where the produce was grown and an estimated transport time of the produce from the geographic origin to the source(s). A data processing system analyzes the recipe against ingredient(s) available to the user and aspect(s) of the produce, resulting in analysis result(s), modifies the recipe, resulting in a modified recipe based on the geographic origin, the transport time (may be estimated) and the analysis result(s), and makes available to the user the modified recipe.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2018Date of Patent: November 22, 2022Assignee: INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATIONInventors: Fang Lu, Nadiya Kochura, Janani Janakiraman, Susan Marie Cox

Patent number: 9070369Abstract: Audio content is converted to text using speech recognition software. The text is then associated with a distinct voice or a generic placeholder label if no distinction can be made. From the text and voice information, a word cloud is generated based on key words and key speakers. A visualization of the cloud displays as it is being created. Words grow in size in relation to their dominance. When it is determined that the predominant words or speakers have changed, the word cloud is complete. That word cloud continues to be displayed statically and a new word cloud display begins based upon a new set of predominant words or a new predominant speaker or set of speakers. This process may continue until the meeting is concluded. At the end of the meeting, the completed visualization may be saved to a storage device, sent to selected individuals, removed, or any combination of the preceding.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2014Date of Patent: June 30, 2015Assignee: Nuance Communications, Inc.Inventors: Susan Marie Cox, Janani Janakiraman, Fang Lu, Loulwa F. Patent number: 7529804Abstract: A method for customizing color in an email message based on cultural perspective of each recipient is provided. At least one existing color used in an email message is determined, and a domain name and/or information for each recipient of the email message is analyzed to determine a region corresponding to each recipient. A color mapping database is searched to correlate any existing color in the email to at least one approved color corresponding to each region. The existing color used in the email message is compared with the at least one approved color for each recipient. If the existing color does not match any of the approved colors for each recipient, a sender-selected approved color is determined and the existing color in the email is converted to at least one of the selected approved colors for each recipient of the email message.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2008Date of Patent: May 5, 2009Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Fang Lu, Susan Marie Cox, Janani Janakiraman, Loulwa Salem

Patent number: 7187863Abstract: In a first aspect, a stream of data is transmitted by dividing the stream of data into a first substream and a second substream, transmitting the first substream in a first data channel, and transmitting the second substream in a second data channel. Before transmitting the first and second substreams, a first marker signal is inserted in the first substream and/or a second marker signal is inserted in the second substream. A receiver circuit receives the substreams, detects at least one marker signal, and reassembles the data stream from the substreams based on at least one detected marker signal. Numerous other aspects are provided.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2001Date of Patent: March 6, 2007Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Susan Marie Cox, Mark Joseph Hickey, Jack Chris Randolph, Dale John Thomforde, Frederick Jacob Ziegler

Publication number: 20030112827Abstract: A method of deskewing parallel data streams includes receiving the plurality of data streams and storing each of the received data streams in a respective buffer. Synchronization signals in the data streams are detected, and the buffers are controlled to read out the stored data streams on the basis of the detected synchronization signals. Numerous other methods and apparatus are provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 13, 2001Publication date: June 19, 2003Applicant: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Susan Marie Cox, Mark Joseph Hickey, Jack Chris Randolph, Dale John Thomforde, Frederick Jacob Ziegler
