  • Patent number: 8039577
Abstract: Polyester compositions are disclosed that include polyester polymers or copolymers having incorporated therein titanium nitride particles that provide one or more of the following advantages: improving the reheat properties of the compositions, improving the color of the compositions through reduced yellowness, and improving the UV-blocking properties of the compositions. Processes for making such compositions are also disclosed. The titanium nitride particles may be incorporated in the polyester by melt compounding, or may be added at any stage of the polymerization, such as during the melt-phase of the polymerization. A range of particle sizes may be used, as well as a range of particle size distributions. The polyester compositions are suitable for use in packaging made from processes in which a reheat step is desirable, or decreased yellowness is desired, or increased resistance to the effects of ultraviolet light is desired, or any combination of the foregoing.

  • Publication number: 20080255280
Abstract: Polymer blends suitable for packaging are disclosed that include a transition metal; one or more polyamide homopolymers or copolymers; and one or more polyethylene terephthalate homopolymers or copolymers obtained by a melt phase polymerization using a catalyst system comprising aluminum atoms in an amount, for example, from about 3 ppm to about 60 ppm and one or more alkaline earth metal atoms, alkali metal atoms, or alkali compound residues in an amount, for example, from about 1 ppm to about 25 ppm, in each case based on the weight of the one or more polyethylene terephthalate homopolymers or copolymers The polymer blends disclosed exhibit improved oxygen-scavenging activity compared with blends made using polymers prepared with conventional catalyst systems.

  • Publication number: 20030110140
Abstract: New and improved systems and methods for facilitating sale and distribution of fuel to a fuel customer. Such systems and methods include and involve a server facility configured to store fuel deal data and to process such fuel deal data to automatically generate pricing data based on the fuel deal data and in accordance with a pre-determined pricing technique. The system and method also include and involve a client facility that is coupled to the server facility via an electronic data network and which is configured to permit a user to enter such fuel deal data and to cause the server facility to store and process the fuel deal data to generate the pricing data. As such, fuel may be sold and distributed to a fuel customer via a fuel distribution system based on the fuel deal data and the automatically generated pricing data.
