  • Patent number: 10485471
Abstract: A system and method for identifying ictal states in a patient, the system including a plurality of sensors for sensing different non-electroencephalographic signals from the patient, and a processing unit. The processing unit has a processor and memory with instructions for classifying data from the plurality of sensors to determine probability of the patient being ictal, when the probability is high asking the patient if the patient is in an ictal state, reporting to a caregivers if the patient is ictal, and updating the classifier based upon sensor data, probability, and the response. The method includes sensing, using a plurality of non-electroencephalographic sensors, determining, using a classifier trained using a training dataset, probability of the patient being in an ictal state, and if probability is high, asking the patient if the patient is in ictal state, logging the occurrence of an ictal state, and updating the classifier.

  • Patent number: 7982140
Abstract: A weigh scale including a weighing mechanism; a recording system connected to the weighing mechanism for recording a weight; a comparator connected to the weighing mechanism and the recording mechanism for determining a difference between weights; and an indicator in communication with the comparator for indicating a difference in weights, wherein the weighing mechanism, recording system, comparator and indicator are configured to: measure an initial weight of a subject without indicating the weight and store the weight in the recording system; measure a subsequent weight of the subject without indicating the weight; determine a difference between the initial weight and the subsequent weight; and indicate the difference in weight between the initial weight and the subsequent weight only when the subsequent weight is one of greater or less than the initial weight.

  • Publication number: 20060192362
Abstract: A pneumatic support system for a wheelchair is provided herein. An implementation includes a support unit that supports a portion of the body of a user, a control unit that permits the user to control whether the support unit gets inflated or deflated, and a compressor that provides pressurized air to the support unit to inflate the support unit. The wheelchair has a valve, such when the user indicates that the support unit is to be inflated, the control unit sends a signal to the valve to move the valve to a first position, thereby permitted the pressurized air to reach the support unit. The support unit may be implemented in a variety of ways, and may be one of many support units. In one implementation, the support unit supports a thoracic portion of the user's body.
