    Abstract: A computer implemented method and system for storing and retrieving data representing textual information, and compressed data representing images. Images are scanned into the system, compressed and stored as compressed image data and related textual information is entered into the system and stored separate and apart from the compressed image data. The stored compressed image data and the related textual data which satisfy particular ranges and values for predetermined search criteria represented in the textual data are made available in the form of pictorial representations and textual information, respectively, for viewing on a computer display monitor means.
