The short-range base station has a preference for using the interface for the whitespace channels, where the whitespace channels are whitespace spectrum bands that are available during periods when a primary user is not actively utilizing the whitespace. A spectrum server analyzes spectrum occupancy database information and whitespace spectrum sensing measurements to determine lists of available whitespace spectrum bands for use by the short-range base station.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to methods, apparatuses, and systems for the treatment of various skin conditions by delivery of piperine and/or a related structural analog of piperine (collectively referred to as piperine-based compounds) to an area of skin affected by a skin condition (e.g., vitiligo) in conjunction with irradiation of the affected area. Structural analogs of piperine include compounds such as THP, CHP, and RCHP. In various embodiments, irradiation of affected skin in conjunction with a piperine-based composition may result in stimulation of melanin synthesis by melanocytes which may induce pigmentation to a greater extent than with the use of the piperine-based compound alone.

Abstract: The present invention provides CTL epitope peptides and polyepitope peptides from 14 distinct antigens of human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) that are restricted through HLA the most commonly prevalent class I alleles in different ethnic populations of the world. These epitopes provide an important platform for CTL epitope-based vaccines against HCMV. The present invention further provides vaccine composiitons comprising the subject epitope and polyepitope peptides and methods for vaccination of humans and for the adoptive transfer of HCMV-specific T cells to human subjects. The present invention further provides reagents and methods for determining the HCMV status or level of HCMV-specific immunity of a subject.

Abstract: A data processing system based on an extensible set of typed data objects and a corresponding set of "object managers," each of which is a program for operating with the data stored in a corresponding type of object. The object managers in general support at least a standard set of operations. Any program can effect performance of these standard operations on objects of any type by making a particular request; in response to such a request, an object manager that is suitable for performing the requested operation on the specified type of data is identified and caused to perform the requested operation. A mechanism is provided for linking data from one object into another object. A catalog includes both information about objects and about links between objects. Data interchange services are provided for communicating data between objects of different types, using a set of standard data interchange formats.
