Abstract: An enterprise or business system is disclosed that provides content and services to customers over an infrastructure. The system includes a plurality of business application modules and associated databases, and further includes a bus, such as an enterprise application integration (EAI) bus, for interconnecting the plurality of business application modules, the associated databases and customer equipment. The EAI provides an inter-application module and customer equipment messaging function and message/data translation capability. In the preferred embodiment at least one of the plurality of business application modules is a customer billing application module that cooperates with others of the plurality of business application modules and the customer equipment through the EAI for generating, for individual ones of the customers, a bill that contains a unified accounting of all of the content and services received by the customer through the infrastructure.

Abstract: 3-Hydroxypyridin-4-ones of formula (I) ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 is a C.sub.3 or C.sub.4 hydroxyalkyl group in which the hydroxy group is terminally substituted on the alkyl group, R.sub.2 is methyl or ethyl and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each separately hydrogen, methyl or ethyl but with the proviso that the total number of carbon atoms in R.sub.1 to R.sub.4 is no more than six, the compound optionally being in the form of a physiologically acceptable salt and/or pro-drug thereof, are of value for the treatment of conditions caused by iron dependent parasites, particularly malaria.

Abstract: A method for improving a strain of microorganisms capable of converting glycine to L-serine by selecting for strain-improving mutations such that the improved strain is serine dehydratase negative and is resistant to at least one of the amino acid analogs serine hydroxamate, glycine hydroxamate or methionine hydroxamate.
