Abstract: A serving dish, such as in the form of a bowl is provided including an upper receptacle and a lower enclosure. The upper receptacle, in the form of a basin, supports a food item to be served frozen, such as ice cream. The lower enclosure, in the form of a stand, includes an interior containing a thermal mass therein. Materials forming the basin have a higher than average thermal conductivity, to relatively rapidly conduct heat away from chilled food items served within the basin. The thermal mass within the interior of the stand has a higher than average specific heat. When the stand and included thermal mass are pre-chilled, large amounts of heat can be rapidly conducted from food items within the basin, down into the thermal mass. Food items served within the basin of the bowl can thus be kept frozen during a serving period.
