Abstract: A method of providing guidance in connection with a technological task includes determining, from an interaction of an end user with a computer system, a current context and task of the end user, identifying a change in a cognitive state of the end user, where the change in the cognitive state is associated with performance of the task using the computer system, searching a plurality of user experiences corresponding to the change in the cognitive state of the end user and the user's current context, selecting at least one of the user experiences according to a selection parameter for determining a selected user experience, and injecting the selected user experience into the current context of the end user via an output device of the computer system.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for cognitive state supported automotive travel are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A detection is made that an event in a vehicle is outside of acceptable bounds for that event. A determination is made whether the event being outside of acceptable bounds is a result of a cognitive state of a person operating the vehicle. Responsive to the event being a result of the cognitive state of the person, an indication of the cognitive state of the person being below a threshold level of cognitive abilities is generated. An action corresponding to the cognitive state is performed. The action causes the vehicle to operate with improved safety.

Abstract: A system, method, and program product is provided that selects an instant messaging message that includes one or more words in a text area. The instant message is a communication with an instant messaging participant that corresponds to an instant messaging participant identifier. A count is kept of the words that match keywords that are associated with a selected instant messaging group data store that is stored in a nonvolatile data area. If the count exceeds a particular threshold, the instant messaging participant identifier is added to the selected instant messaging group.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for managing calendar conflicts. A plurality of calendar invitations waiting to be processed is identified to form a plurality of unprocessed calendar invitations. Calendar invitations are grouped within the plurality of unprocessed calendar invitations together that conflict with each other to form a group of conflicting calendar invitations. Each conflicting calendar invitation in the group of conflicting calendar invitations is presented in association with other calendar invitations in the group for resolution.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for automatically displaying the potential risk associated with cracking a password. While creating or modifying a password, feedback is provided describing the risk associated with cracking the password. Risk assessment may be presented as a percentage, accompanied by an explanation of why the value was ascertained. Risk feedback during password creation provides an opportunity to improve computer, document, and file security.

Abstract: Replay attacks in an encrypted file system are prevented by generating a session key and providing the session key to one or more drive managers and an encrypted file system process. When a drive request is received by the encrypted file system process the drive request is encrypted using the generated session key. The encrypted drive request is sent to a drive manager. The drive manager attempts to decrypt the drive request using the session key. If the encrypted drive request is successfully decrypted, then the drive manager performs the requested operation. On the other hand, if the request is not decrypted successfully, then the request is not performed by the drive manager. Drive managers can include both disk device drivers and a logical volume managers.

Abstract: A method for analyzing groups of hand-drawn inputs receives from a set of computing devices a corresponding set of hand-drawn inputs. A user in a group of users interacts with a device in the set of devices to provide a hand-drawn input in the set of hand-drawn inputs corresponding to the device. The method analyzes a subset of the set of hand-drawn inputs to determine an accuracy of the hand-drawn inputs in the subset. The method generating a result responsive to the analyzing and presents the result.

Abstract: A method of rescinding previously transmitted e-mail messages are provided. After a sender composes an e-mail message, the message may be stored on a computing system when it is sent to the recipients. As customary, the e-mail message may contain a list of recipients to whom it is to be sent. A notification message is then generated and sent to the recipients (and to the sender) instead of the actual e-mail message. The notification message allows the recipients to automatically access the stored e-mail message. When and if the sender decides to rescind the message, the user may access the message and modify the list of recipients to exclude any number of recipients as well as to modify the text of the e-mail message. Any recipient whose e-mail address has been excluded will not be allowed to access the e-mail message.

Abstract: A user inputs event information into a data processing system which is stored in an application memory of an application. Message information contained in each incoming message received by a messaging service is compared to the event information. In the event that the message information corresponds to the event information a notification of the event is sent to a short-range wireless transmitter. The wireless transmitter transmits notification of the event to a remote receiver. Upon receipt of the wireless signal, the remote receiver triggers an alert notification notifying the user that data processing system has received the specified event.

Abstract: A system and method for dynamically adjusting or modifying the password expiration period for a given user based upon how a user accesses the password-protected resource. The tighter the physical control of how a user can access a resource results in a loosening or maintaining of the password expiration period to be a relatively long period of time, whereas the looser the physical control of how a user can access a resource results in a tightening of the password expiration period to be a relatively short period of time. The password expiration period is adjusted based on both actual usage patterns as well as variances in such usage patterns.

Abstract: An approach for using a centralized conference call manager is provided for initiating conference calls. Users register with the centralized conference call manager to set up a conference call at a future date and time. When the designated time/date arrive, the centralized conference call manager contacts the various intended attendees using a variety of contact locations (e.g., office telephone, mobile telephone, home telephone, etc.). The system further allows an intended attendee to, when contacted by the centralized conference call manager, provide a different contact number that the conference call manager will use instead. An anticipated attendee can decline the call and provide a verbal reason for not being able to attend. The centralized conference call manager records the reason and, when requested, plays the reason back to the other attendees.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, data processing system and computer program product are disclosed for password expiration based on vulnerability detection. A request for a password is received during re-activation of a first account that belongs to a particular user. A test password is compared to a previously created password that belongs to the particular user to determine if a match occurred. Responsive to determining that there is a match, a second account that belongs to the particular user with respect to the match is expired.

Abstract: A system and method for conditioned distribution of e-mail is provided. Delivery of an e-mail message to selected second recipients (equivalently addressees) may be conditioned on a set of preselected conditions, in particular to a set of conditions associated with the delivery of the e-mail to a set of first recipients. In response to message delivery notifications corresponding to the set of first recipients, a determination is made if the delivery conditions are satisfied, and delivery to the set of second recipients made accordingly. Delivery to a set of third recipients may be likewise conditioned on another set of conditions.

Abstract: A sender selection is detected at a sender computer system within a user interface of at least one suggested folder name for a composed electronic message for a recipient receiving the electronic message to select as a folder name for filing the electronic message. The at least one suggested folder name is attached to the electronic message at the sender computer system for distribution to the recipient. The electronic message is sent with the suggested filing folder name from the sender computer system to a recipient, wherein a recipient receiving the electronic message receives the at least one suggested folder name specified by the sender in the electronic message for selecting a folder for filing the electronic message in a messaging filing directory for the recipient.

Abstract: A receipt receives an electronic message from a sender, wherein said electronic message comprises at least one suggested folder name specified by the sender for the recipient to select as a folder name for filing the electronic message, wherein the at least one suggested folder name is detected by a sender computer system from a selection by the sender within a user interface of the sender computer system of the at least one suggested folder name for the electronic message and inserted into the electronic message. The electronic message is filtered to detect the at least one suggested folder name for filing the electronic message in a messaging filing directory. Responsive to the recipient selecting to file the electronic message, the electronic message is filed in at least one folder with the suggested folder name from among a plurality of folders.
