The visual aids may include a word to be learned. The word may be presented in one or more languages. The application is loaded onto a smart phone or other microprocessor-based device with imaging capability. Scanning of the visual aid using the application on the microprocessor-based device results in a presentation by the application that facilitates learning of the word in meaning and pronunciation.
