Abstract: Here is provided a novel differentiation protocol, which was experimentally shown to give rise to osteoprogenitor cells in vitro. A novel medium composition containing a p38 MAPK inhibitor was found to promote differentiation of human adipose stem cells (hASCs) to osteoprogenitor cells. The early osteogenic precursor cells may further differentiated to osteoblasts. With the present method, it can be produced cells, expected to contribute to treatment and research of conditions, diseases, pathologies, transplant techniques as well as toxicology and drug development related to the skeletal system.

Abstract: A culture sample holder, which can be placed in a culture apparatus comprises an inner holder, which is hollow inside, and an outer holder, which is hollow inside. The inner holder is insertable in the outer holder to an assembly of the inner holder and outer holder where the outer bottom of the inner holder faces the inner bottom of the outer holder, thus forming a space for a culture sample to be placed between the outer bottom and the inner bottom. The inner holder comprises a protrusion and the outer holder comprises a recess in its side wall. The protrusion is placed in a first position of the inner holder inside said recess in the side wall of the outer holder and in a second rotated position of the inner holder, the protrusion is placed in the outer holder outside the recess at a higher position with respect to the first position.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of microvascular reconstruction surgery of bone defects. More specifically, the invention relates to a biological jaw regenerate and to methods of preparing said jaw regenerate. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method of reconstructing a jaw defect in a patient in need thereof.

Abstract: A cell culture insert including a body having a grip extending sideways from the body, and a locking ring adapted to be fitted around the body. The grip is able to retract elastically inwards so that the body can be inserted inside a cell culture vessel with its grip in friction contact against interior sidewalls of a cavity of the cell culture vessel. The cell culture insert is kept in place by the friction contact and its height position can be adjusted inside the cavity.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of treating cancer in a subject. The method comprises administering to a subject suffering from cancer a therapeutically effective amount of a 24-hydroxylase inhibitor. In certain embodiments, the 24-hydroxylase inhibitor can be coadministered with calcitriol.
