  • Patent number: 10113106
Abstract: A method of coating proppant comprising: providing a curable resin having three or more epoxy functional groups; providing proppant particles; and coating the curable resin onto at least a portion of the proppant particles to create resin-coated proppant particles, wherein the curable resin does not substantially cure during the coating process. A method of fracturing a subterranean formation comprising: introducing a fracturing fluid into the subterranean formation, wherein the fracturing fluid comprises: (A) a base fluid; (B) proppant; and (C) the curable resin; and creating or enhancing one or more fractures within the subterranean formation using the fracturing fluid.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 23, 2014
Date of Patent: October 30, 2018
    Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.
    Inventor: Sushant D. Wadekar
  • Publication number: 20170240801
Abstract: A fracturing fluid comprising: water; a water-soluble salt; and a viscoelastic surfactant, wherein the viscoelastic surfactant: increases the viscosity of the fracturing fluid, wherein the viscosity is increased to at least a sufficient viscosity that proppant are suspended in the fracturing fluid; and is in at least a sufficient concentration such that the viscoelastic surfactant spontaneously forms micelles. A method of fracturing a subterranean formation comprising: introducing the fracturing fluid into a well, wherein the well penetrates the subterranean formation; and creating one or more fractures within the subterranean formation with the fracturing fluid.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20170226402
Abstract: A cement composition for use in a well that penetrates a subterranean formation comprising: cement; water; an environmentally-friendly curable resin having two or more epoxy functional groups; and a curing agent that causes the curable resin to cure when in contact with the curing agent. A method of cementing in a subterranean formation comprising: introducing the cement composition into the subterranean formation; and allowing the cement composition to set after introduction.
