  • Patent number: 4310788
Abstract: A speed control device for a sewing machine which is adapted to control a speed of the machine motor. The device includes a plurality of photo-conductive fibers arranged in two sets, one set being optically positioned opposite to another. The device also includes a light source which transmits the light to the photo-conductive fibers, a photo-conductive element which receives the light from the fibers and a phase-controlling element connected to the photo-conductive element and to the machine motor. An interrupting plate secured to a step plate of the sewing machine is provided in the device which is adapted for reciprocable movement between the optically sensitive ends of aforementioned two sets of the photo-conductive fibers.

  • Patent number: 4290377
Abstract: A sewing machine having a rotary shaft, a needle bar, a fabric feeding device and an electronic control device for controlling the needle position is provided with a manually operated arrangement to selectively render the electronic control device operative or inoperative when desired to obtain the straight stitching or zigzag stitching, respectively. This arrangement includes a plurality of cams operatively connected to a dial positioned on the housing of the sewing machine and a switch cooperating with said cams and adapted to actuate the electronic control device.

  • Patent number: 4278039
Abstract: The presser foot for a sewing machine is provided with a pair of aligned rollers arranged near the needle dropping hole. The lower end portion of the presser foot holder is connected to the presser foot between the pair of aligned rollers, so that a sufficient downwardly pressing force may be applied on the sewn materials even in the region near the needle dropping hole.

  • Patent number: 4266493
Abstract: An electronic pattern stitching sewing machine has an arrangement for producing signals directing it to stitch a selectable number of patterns in series. These signals are then used to identify the last needle position coordinate of a preceding stitched pattern of the series and the initial needle position coordinate of the next-following pattern to be stitched in the series and, in dependence upon this, the most appropriate interconnecting pattern from a memorized group of such interconnected patterns is selected and stitched, so as to interconnect the preceding stitched pattern and the next-following pattern of the series.

  • Patent number: 4196682
Abstract: A sewing machine provided with a set of pattern generating cams is also provided with a user-operated multi-setting pattern selector dial. When the selector dial is turned to a particular setting, to thereby cause the pattern generating cams to generate the corresponding pattern, a first mechanism automatically selects a respective feed pitch (amount of cloth feed per needle penetration), appropriate for the type of pattern selected. Accordingly, the user is not troubled to determine, by trial or error or otherwise, what feed pitch values would be clearly unsuitable for the selected pattern, and is instead automatically presented with a standard feed pitch value appropriate for the selected pattern.

  • Patent number: 4079683
Abstract: A zig-zag sewing machine equipped with pattern cams and a pattern cam selection arrangement has a compartment in which various accessories of the sewing machine are accommodated. One lid covers the compartment and another lid overlies the above-mentioned lid, the lids being provided, at their surfaces facing one another, with a table of indicia and with lines connecting the indicia with other indicia provided on a pattern cam selector dial so as to enable the user of the sewing machine to adjust the sewing machine for the particular selected stitch pattern. The lids are mounted for pivoting on a common shaft, and a sliding element is mounted on the shaft for displacement therealong and is visible when the one lid is either open or closed, the position of the slide element being selected in dependence on the selected pattern and also being indicative of the accessory to be used.

  • Patent number: 3973508
Abstract: A supporting member is removably attached to an upright presser bar of a sewing machine, and a zipper foot is attached to the supporting member so as to be removable therefrom. The position of the zipper foot on and with reference to the supporting member can be changed in direction transversely of the upright presser bar of the sewing machine, to thereby make it possible to move the zipper foot to positions in which the sewing machine can be used to sew a zipper, and to a position in which the sewing machine can be used for other work not involving the sewing of a zipper; this eliminates the need for removing the zipper foot at such times when the machine is not used to sew a zipper.
