  • Publication number: 20010029579
Abstract: The invention provides an information processing system, a portable electronic device, an access apparatus for the portable electronic device, as well as a method of using a memory space. When applied to, for example, a system employing non-contact IC cards, the invention enables one IC card to be used for a plurality of business organizations in common. To this end, an access key is created based on issuer key information managed by a management sector and file key information specific to each business organization, and the created access key is signed to the business organization. A portable electronic device is then accessed using the access key.

  • Patent number: 6195007
Abstract: A recording medium handling apparatus, such as a library apparatus, is designed to be able to carry out excellent information communication with a specific recording medium having a noncontact type memory. The recording medium handling apparatus includes a magazine for housing a plurality of tape cassettes arranged side by side, and an interface circuit capable of executing data transmission with respect to the memory in the tape cassette in a noncontact manner by executing wireless communication with a remote memory chip in the tape cassette through an antenna.

  • Patent number: 6126077
Abstract: Method and apparatus for providing communication with a higher communication rate while maintaining the occupied frequency band narrow, a signal processing unit of a reader/writer unit Biphase Shift Keying (BPSK)-modulates data to be transmitted, and thereafter outputs the modulated signal to a modem. The modem Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK)-modulates the modulated signal and outputs the ASK-modulated signal to a first loop coil. The first loop coil generates a magnetic field corresponding to the modulated wave. An IC card converts a part of the magnetic field radiated from the reader/writer unit with another loop coil to generate a power source from the electrical signal, and also extracts the data transmitted. In the case of transmitting the data to the reader/writer unit, a load of another loop coil is changed in accordance with the data. The reader/writer unit detects, with the first loop coil, any change in load of another loop coil of the IC card magnetically coupled with the first loop coil.

  • Patent number: 6073236
Abstract: Mutual authentication is performed. A reader/writer (R/W) transmits to an IC card a code C.sub.1 that is a random number R.sub.A encrypted using a key K.sub.B. The IC card decrypts the code C.sub.1 into plain text M.sub.1 using the key K.sub.B. The IC card transmits to the R/W a code C.sub.2 that is the plain text M.sub.1 encrypted using a key K.sub.A and a code C.sub.3 that is a random number R.sub.B encrypted using the key K.sub.A. The R/W decrypts the codes C.sub.2 and C.sub.3 into plain text M.sub.2 and plain text M.sub.3, respectively, using the key K.sub.A. When the R/W determines that the plain text M.sub.2 and the random number R.sub.A are the same, it authenticates the IC card. Next, the R/W transmits to the IC card a code C.sub.4 that is the plain text M.sub.3 encrypted using the key K.sub.B. The IC card decrypts the code C.sub.4 into plain text M.sub.4 using the key K.sub.B. When the IC card determines that the plain text M.sub.4 and the random number R.sub.B are the same, it authenticates the R/W.

  • Patent number: 6058477
Abstract: In authentication using a plurality of cipher keys, the authentication time is shortened. In the case that an encipher key to encipher key are required to take an access to each area out of the area to area in a memory of an IC card, a plurality of areas to have an access is informed to the IC card from a reader writer, a plurality of cipher keys corresponding to these areas (for example, cipher key 1, cipher key 2, and cipher key 4) is read out, and reduction processing section generates one reduction key from these cipher keys. A random number which is generated from a random number generation section of the reader writer is transferred to the IC card, and an encipherment section enciphers the random number using the reduction key. The reader writer receives the enciphered random number from the IC card, and deciphers it using the reduction key, and judges the IC card to be proper if the deciphered random number is equal to the generated random number.

  • Patent number: 4888643
Abstract: A special effect apparatus for use in production of a television program or the like, including a latch circuit to obtain delayed video data by delaying input video data for a predetermined time. The input video data and such delayed video data are outputted selectively via switch means at the proper timing that conforms to a desired mosaic pattern, so that continuous video data can be produced for a desired period of time to form a mosaic display element of a desired size and/or shape.
