  • Patent number: 8155556
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes: a printer unit that forms an image on a recording sheet; an operation panel for operating and/or setting the printer unit, a side on which the operation panel is provided is defined as a front side; and an ejection space on which the recording sheet ejected from the printer unit is placed. As viewed from the front side, a radius curvature of a first portion that intermediates a right side plane of the printer unit and a front plane of the printer unit is larger than a radius curvature of a second portion that intermediates a left side plane of the printer unit and the front plane of the printer unit.

  • Patent number: 8064109
Abstract: An image reader and an image forming apparatus are provided. The image reader includes a stationary document scanning device; a moving document scanning device; a scan window; a document cover covering the scan window and comprising an opening located at a position facing the scan window; a document feeding mechanism which is disposed at the document cover and feeds a document through the opening in the document cover and onto the scan window when the document is to be scanned by the moving document scanning device; an image pickup device configured to read an image from the scan window; and a controller which detects edges of the stationary document based on image data read by the image pickup device, and performs an image data defining operation to determine image data, which is included within the detected edges of the document, as exact image data.

  • Patent number: 6132120
Abstract: A first printing is performed after text is inputted and after a number of print colors, a print color order, and their print ranges are set. A message urging the user to remove the ribbon cassette in order to perform a second printing is displayed. When the user opens the cassette cover, removes the ribbon cassette, and inputs using an optional or predetermined key, then a message warning the user not to mount a ribbon cassette is displayed and rewind of the tape is started. When the front edge of the tape is detected by a tape detection sensor, then rewind of the tape is stopped.

  • Patent number: 5618119
Abstract: A cassette case is removably attached into a main body of a printed tape producing apparatus. The apparatus includes a print section and a platen that is pressed against or brought out of contact with the print section, and carries out printing by passing an ink ribbon and a print tape between the print section and the platen. The cassette case housing the ink ribbon is provided with a container section into which a tape case housing the print tape is removably fitted. The cassette case and the tape case are respectively provided with a guide groove having its top opened, and it is possible to easily carry the tape to the print section by pinching the tape at the opening in the guide groove.

  • Patent number: 5393152
Abstract: A print head is supported on an upper frame of a printing device and a platen and a feeding device are supported on a lower frame. Further, a circuit substrate, a print head moving motor, and a feeding device driving motor are also supported on the upper frame. The upper and the lower frame are connected by a connection member around a rotating axis which is substantially orthogonal to the feeding direction of the print medium. The rotating axis is near a side of the platen in order to easily open and shut the upper frame. When a lock arm is released, the upper frame is pushed up by only a small angle through operation of a pre-open lever and is held in a pre-open position. When upper frame is further opened in an opening direction, the upper frame is held in a fully open position by the operation of an open lock lever. When in the fully open state, the exchange of print paper and/or the removal of the jammed paper can be done easily and safely.

  • Patent number: 4826336
Abstract: Disclosed herewith is a printing apparatus for use in a cash register or the like, in which a receipt sheet and a journal sheet are disposed in parallel to each other on a platen that defines a print line and a movable printing body including a printing head which reciprocates along the platen to perform its printing operation selectively on the receipt and journal sheets in regions respectively facing these sheets. The line-feeding operation of the receipt sheet is controlled to be carried out when the printing head is located at least partially in the region facing the receipt sheet, whereby the line-feeding of the receipt sheet can be performed without interfering with the movement of the movable printing body.
