  • Patent number: 7026369
Abstract: To provide an aqueous emulsion composition which has high adhesion strength for a wide variety of materials including molded products and affords sufficient wettability even for the object to be adhesive bonded of low surface polarity so that it can develop sufficient adhesiveness and whose emulsion is stable so satisfactorily as to provide good mechanical stability and storage stability, and to provide an adherent composition comprising the aqueous emulsion composition, at least ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or modified resin thereof, photo polymerization initiator, and unsaturated ethylenic monomer are mixed and dissolved or dispersed, to prepare oil drop component, followed by emulsifying the oil drop component in water by using a surface-active agent, whereby an aqueous emulsion composition, in which micelles each encapsulating at least the ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer or modified resin thereof, the photo polymerization initiator and unsaturated ethylenic monomer are dispersed in water, is prepared

  • Patent number: 6548605
Abstract: An aqueous emulsion composition that has high adhesion strength for a variety of materials so that it can be used for the adhesive bonding of even molded products and an adherent composition containing the aqueous emulsion composition. The aqueous emulsion composition comprises a carboxyl modified resin of a saponified ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and a surface active agent. This aqueous emulsion composition can be suitably used as adherent composition, such as an primer and an adhesive, for adhesive bonding a variety of molded products, such as plastic films, plastic sheets, plastic foams, fibers, synthetic leathers and metals. Due to the aqueous composition, the composition can have little risk to catch fire and can provide good sanitation in the environment.

  • Patent number: 5453458
Abstract: There is disclosed a core-shell polymer which comprises:(a) a core layer polymerized from a core forming monomer mainly comprising an aromatic monovinyl monomer; and(b) a shell layer polymerized from a shell forming monomer which comprises:(b1) 25-95% by weight of an aromatic monovinyl monomer as a first monomer;(b2) 5-40% by weight of at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of an .alpha., .beta.-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid and a hydroxyalkyl ester of .alpha., .beta.-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid as a second monomer; and(b3) 0-70% by weight of a third monomer which is other than the first and second monomers and is copolymerizable therewith, wherein the shell layer is contained in an amount of 5-70% by weight based on the core-shell polymer, and the core-shell polymer having a weight average particle size of 0.1-50 micrometers. There is further disclosed a plastisol which comprises the core-shell polymer dispersed in a liquid plasticizer.
