Patent number: 6597338Abstract: A liquid crystal display in which the construction of an inverter is not complex and which can change the luminance wider than the changeable range of regulating light of the inverter is provided. An image is formed at a display control circuit and the gradations of the image is converted at a luminance regulating circuit and the converted image is inputted to a liquid crystal display section. The liquid crystal display section displays the image on a panel controlling by image data inputted a backlight which is controlled by changing an effective value of a tube current in an inverter. The luminance regulating circuit controls display gradations responding to a user setting value.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1999Date of Patent: July 22, 2003Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Susumu Onodera

Patent number: 6487069Abstract: A keyboard portion hinders holding a personal computer upon opening and it is difficult to pick up image while the personal computer is held with hands. It is not easy to use since transfer rate of image data to the main body is limited. To eliminate such drawbacks, when moving or still image is picked up by a camera unit 4, keyboard is separated from main body 2 by releasing engagement of the connectors 7a and 7b and operation is conducted by only main body 2. When user depresses shutter button 5, still image of object is picked up by camera unit 4. The picked-up still image data is fed to a hard disk drive in the main body 2 and is stored therein. Pen 6 gives instructions to the computer circuit in the main body 2 from a digitizer included in the display 3. The image data stored in the hard disk drive can be displayed on the display 3 for personal computer by actuating of the pen 6.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2000Date of Patent: November 26, 2002Assignee: NEC CorporationInventor: Susumu Onodera

Patent number: 5886910Abstract: A device having a checking function includes a detector for detecting unrelated data included in first inputted calculation data which is not related to a predetermined calculation to be performed on the first inputted calculation data. A memory controller is provided for controlling a memory so as not to store the unrelated data included in the first inputted calculation data when the detector detects the unrelated data. A check mode may be set whereby second inputted calculation data is compared with the stored first inputted calculation data and whereby it is then determined whether the second inputted calculation data is coincident with the stored first inputted calculation data. In addition, an indicator is provided for alerting a user when it is determined that the second inputted calculation data is not coincident with the stored first inputted calculation data.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1996Date of Patent: March 23, 1999Assignee: Casio Computer Co., Ltd.Inventors: Susumu Onodera, Yasuo Ikeya, Katsuyoshi Suzuki

Patent number: 5729699Abstract: A display system comprising a display and a memory for storing a plurality of evaluation data relating to a plurality of types of clothing and accessories. Each type of clothing and accessory has a respective plurality of colors. The display is controlled to display the plurality of types of clothing, a plurality of types of accessories to be carried, and the respective plurality of colors of each of the types of clothing and accessories. A designating device is provided for designating particular combinations of clothing and/or accessories. When a first article of clothing of a designated color is combined with a second article of clothing and its designated color, an evaluation of this combination is performed based on the stored plurality of evaluation data, and the resulting evaluation is displayed on the display.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1994Date of Patent: March 17, 1998Assignee: Casio Computer Co., Ltd.Inventors: Kayoko Hashimoto, Yukihiro Nakano, Kyoko Lin, Susumu Onodera

Patent number: 5542037Abstract: An image displaying apparatus, in which a plurality of image data of parts are stored in a ROM (read only memory) which parts are representative of elements of a portrait such as eyes, eyebrows, a nose, hair, an outline of a face and so on, image data of the parts selected by operation of a key input unit are read out from the ROM and are combined on a display unit of a dot matrix type, whereby a desired portrait is displayed thereon. A display position on the display unit where each of the image data combined into the above desired portrait is to be displayed is previously determined. The display position can be changed by operation of up/down keys or left/right keys provided in the key input unit. Using these keys, a wide variety of portraits which are rich in expression may be composed.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1993Date of Patent: July 30, 1996Assignee: Casio Computer Co., Ltd.Inventors: Shinichiro Sato, Yukio Naruki, Hiroyuki Yoshino, Susumu Onodera

Patent number: 5357264Abstract: When display data having a smaller vertical number of pixels than a vertical number of pixels of a display is to be displayed, a display status can be switched during the execution of any application software. When a display selection switch receives a switch command, it outputs a selection signal directly to a display controller, an address generator in the display controller selects one of display modes to the display in accordance with the selection signal. When the display data having the smaller vertical number of pixels than the vertical number of pixels of the display is to be displayed, a user can freely select the display mode without interruption of a CPU during the execution of any application software.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 1992Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Video & Information System, Inc.Inventors: Hiromichi Itoh, Shigenobu Ishimoto, Yoshihiro Hayashi, Susumu Onodera

Patent number: 5229762Abstract: A gradation conversion system comprising: a plurality of gradation conversion devices for converting color display data into gradation display data by different gradation conversion methods, respectively; and switching device for selectively activating one of the plurality of graduation conversion device. Accordingly, if a number of different colors are to be displayed in the same number of gradations when converting multi-color display data into gradation display data, it is possible to perform this gradation conversion. On the other hand, if different colors are to be displayed in gradations as exact to the brightnesses of colors as possible, it is possible to select one of plural gradation conversion methods so as to carry out this gradation conversion.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 1991Date of Patent: July 20, 1993Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi Video and Information System, Inc.Inventors: Hiromichi Itoh, Yoshihiro Hayashi, Masami Yamagishi, Masayuki Nagaoka, Shigenobu Ishimoto, Susumu Onodera
