  • Patent number: 5678148
Abstract: A copying apparatus including a photosensitive drum having an image carrying surface and a developing unit. The developing unit includes a developer storage device, a developing roller having a developing surface for conveying a developer from the developer storage device to the image carrying surface, and a matching roller near each end of the developing roller for contacting the photosensitive drum to provide a predetermined gap between the image carrying surface and the developing surface. The developing unit is slidably supported in both a first direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the photosensitive drum and in a second direction transverse to the axis of rotation of the photosensitive drum.

  • Patent number: 5426484
Abstract: Developing apparatus includes a developing housing and a toner supply housing which is pivotal to a first position on which the toner supply housing comes in engagement with the developing housing so that an opening of the developing housing is covered so as not to be accessible from the outside or to a second position on which the toner supply housing is spaced from the developing housing so that the opening is made to be able to be accessible from the outside.

  • Patent number: 5103765
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus for developing an electrostatic latent image on a photoreceptor with developer. In the apparatus, there are provided a housing having an open end facing the photoreceptor; a developing device including a sleeve, disposed in the housing in the vicinity of the open end, for supplying developer onto the photoreceptor through the open end; feeder, disposed in the housing at a position further from the open end than the sleeve, for feeding developer to the sleeve; a ridge-like protrusion, provided on a floor of the housing at a position beneath the sleeve, for preventing developer fed by the feeder from passing through between the sleeve and the floor.

  • Patent number: 4895104
Abstract: A developer reservoir in which a flexible seal member is separably bonded to the circumferential surface of an opening in a bottom portion of a reservoir body containing a developer for sealing the same opening. A portion extended from the bonded flexible seal member is spot-bonded on a plurality of portions of the bottom portion of the reservoir body so that when a considerably large pulling out force is applied to the seal member the seal member is separated first from the spot-bonded portions of the bottom portion of the reservoir body and then from the circumferential surface of the opening of the reservoir body. A sliding cover is also included below the seal member so that the sliding cover can be drawn in a right angle direction to the separating direction of the seal member.

  • Patent number: 4841330
Abstract: A recording apparatus that includes an image carrier that has a movable image surface adapted for carrying a latent image to be developed. The apparatus further includes a developing unit that has a developer surface for conveying a developer thereon. A guide member is provided for slidably mounting the developing unit thereon. Biasing elements are included for releasably biasing the developing unit between at least two positions. The first position is a biased position wherein the developer surface faces the movable image with a development gap therebetween to transfer the developer onto the latent image. The second position is a released position wherein the developer surface is spaced from the movable image surface with a gap larger than the development gap. The guide member allows the developing unit to further slide in a direction transverse to the biasing direction.
