Publication number: 20190096518Abstract: A drug infusion device determines whether an infusion program is stored within a memory. If so, a user is prompted to confirm usage of the program and a drug identifier, and to review the configuration of the device. If the program is not in the memory, the drug infusion device is enabled to receive an auto program with which it can configure itself. When auto program receipt is enabled, the drug infusion device waits for the auto program or for a selection for manual entry of the infusion program. A menu screen is displayed to indicate that the drug infusion device is waiting for the auto program, but the menu screen is not displayed if the auto program is already received. Therefore, a waiting for auto program menu screen may be avoided in many cases, reducing device setup time.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 5, 2017Publication date: March 28, 2019Inventors: William Bruce PACE, Jeffrey Eugene RINDA, Angela MARINO, Suzanne WILLEY

Patent number: 8771251Abstract: In example methods and systems described, a medical device can store information locally and in a separate database on a server, for example. If the device fails, or a patient is moved to a second device, information may be transferred to the second device such that the second device can resume a complex therapy at a point where the initial medical device left off. The data necessary to restart the complex therapy system may include certain underlying patient-specific parameters according to a model capturing the patient's physiological response to the medication in question. As a result, it is not necessary for the second device to restart the complex therapy or regress to an initial set of baseline assumptions.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2010Date of Patent: July 8, 2014Assignee: Hospira, Inc.Inventors: Timothy Lewis Ruchti, Steven R. Wehba, John Harrison Thornley, Harsh Dharwad, Joanne Marie Watt, Carol Dian Martin, Suzanne Willey

Patent number: 7945452Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for operating a medical device with a screen having an improved graphical user interface, which selectively reallocates screen display for both single and multi-channel pumps. Channel indicators associate operation information with a specific delivery channel. Patient or drug order verification is facilitated with a rendering of the patient or the entire drug order/label on the screen. Decimal numbers are presented in vertically offset decimal format. A dual function button cancels the current operation and, after a delay, clears entered parameters. An area sensitive scrollbar cycles through information at various speeds. Screen brightness is adjusted based on an ambient light detector. A screen saver mode activates based on several operating conditions. The screen is incorporated in a removable user interface.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 2005Date of Patent: May 17, 2011Assignee: Hospira, Inc.Inventors: Marwan A. Fathallah, Heather J.
