  • Patent number: 8291105
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for identifying inaccurate time measurements in a local area network. The local area network comprises a sending device (2), such as a time client, a destination device (3), such as a timeserver, and a switching device and/or a store-and-forward device (6). A time request packet (4) is rejected if it arrives at the time client or timeserver within a given or calculated minimum distance from the preceding network packet. The time request packet (4) is also rejected if it falls outside a set of calculated error limits based on a set of estimates. Those estimates are kept in the time client memory and updated according to a given set of rules.

  • Patent number: 7956622
Abstract: A method for the signal processing of capacitive measurement scales intended for the measurement of lengths or angles, consisting of two parts moveable relative to each other provided with electrodes that together form condensers, whose magnitudes are variable and depend on the relative position as specified by a sinusoidal relationship between the two parts. The first part has n electrodes evenly distributed over one measurement period and the second part has one electrode per measurement period. The electrodes in the first part are fed with n alternating voltages whereby the time displacements of the alternating voltages relative to each other are t 0 n , , where t0 is the length of the period of the alternating voltage. The electrode of the second mobile part captures a signal composed of one or several of the alternating voltages and the amplitude composition of the signal depends on the relative position between the two parts.

  • Patent number: 7451016
Abstract: An industrial robot system including a plurality of industrial robots. Each robot includes a manipulator, a control unit for automatically operating the manipulator, and a movable key device configured to store information about the identity of the robot to which the moveable key device belongs. A portable operating unit is configured to teach and program the robots. The portable operating unit is adapted for wireless communication with each control unit. The portable operating unit includes a member for receiving one of the moveable key devices, a reader for reading a robot identity from the received moveable device, and a communication establisher for establishing wireless communication between the operating unit and the control unit of the identified robot upon reading the robot identity from the moveable key device.

  • Publication number: 20050121188
Abstract: In apparatus for controlling a fluid production well, a control device D, such as a choke, located downhole is operable selectively by first and second drive means (2,3). First and second power supply means and first and second control channels (ChA, ChB) for control signals are provided for the first and second drive means, the arrangement being such that if one of the power supplies fails, the respective drive means is operable via the other power supply. First and second means (DEM 1A, DEM 1B) for routing control signals from the first and second channels respectively to the first and second drive means are provided, the routing means being interconnected so that, in the event of a fault, control signals from the second channel are routed via the first routing means to the second drive means and/or control signals from the first channel are routed via the second routing means to the first drive means.

  • Publication number: 20040073718
Abstract: A method for improved Network Time Protocol time synchronization in a computer network (1) where the computer network comprises a time client (2) and a timeserver (3). To eliminate network access errors at the client side, the actual time of leaving is stored in the time client (2) as a special time stamp (T11) and later substituted for T1 in the calculations. To eliminate network access errors at the server side, the time request packet is duplicated and returned twice, the second time containing the time stamp when the first packet left the server (T31). To eliminate network transversal jitter when using a switched network, a packet with a multicast is used and the time stamp (T11) is taken when the time request packet is reflected back from the switch and (T31) is taken when the reply packet is reflected back from the switch.

  • Patent number: 4405855
Abstract: In a method and an apparatus for regulating the power which is supplied to a heating element (2) in a water heater (1), preferably a reservoir water heater containing water which is to be heated to a certain temperature, the power which is supplied to the heating element for heating the water, is regulated not only in dependence on the temperature of the water (15), but also in dependence on the temperature of the heating element (2, 4), so that the temperature of the element is kept below a predetermined critical value. The temperature of the heating element is measured directly and/or indirectly, and when the temperature of the element is below the critical value and the temperature of the water in the water heater is below the rated value, maximum power can be supplied to the heating element.
