The walls change length between the two configurations such that a console body has a height that is greater than its width when deployed.

Abstract: A storage compartment for a passenger cabin of a vehicle can provide a large opening and increased accessibility, while maintaining a large working surface. The storage compartment comprises a plurality of walls forming an interior storage area, the plurality of walls including an exterior comprising at least a first panel and a second panel. The first panel has an access end and the second panel has an access end. The access end of the first panel and the access end of the second panel are configured to create a working surface on the exterior when in a closed position. In an open position, the first panel or the second panel is configured to allow access to the interior storage area from two or more different sides of the exterior.

Abstract: A seat assembly (10) for a vehicle having an anchor (16) for a child seat (15) disposed between a seat cushion (12) and a seat back (14). The invention is characterized by a cover (17) movable into a retracted and closed position between the seat cushions (12) and the seat back (14) covering the anchor (16) and out of the retracted position to an extended and fully open position out from between the seat cushions (12) and seat back (14) exposing the anchor (16) for attachment to the child seat (15). The cover (17) includes guide slots (34, 36) for slidably receiving side portions (50) of the anchor (16) and a ramped surface (60) automatically moves the lid (20) from the closed position to the fully open position in response to the housing (18) moving relative to the anchor (16).

Abstract: A selectively extendable tailgate section for a cargo bed of a pick-up truck. The tailgate section may be telescopically extended from the main body of the cargo bed to expand the cargo area as necessary. The telescoping tailgate section carries the flip-down gate and the tail lights of the vehicle keeping these features in tact regardless of the expanded position of the tailgate section. The telescoping tailgate section includes side walls and a bottom which are telescopically received within the fixed sides and bottom of the cargo bed. Rails support the expanded bed and are supported by a plurality of rollers for easy movement of the tailgate section. Additional structure support may be added to the tailgate section for improved structural capacity.
