  • Patent number: 4638893
Abstract: In a key activated vehicle drum brake telescopically displaceable variable force transmitting elements have been arranged between the key and the brake shoes of the brake. In order to provide a design counteracting axial displacement of the brake shoes the variable force transmitting elements and the brake shoes have interengaging contact surfaces, the curve radius of the ends of the elements in a plane containing the drum axis are more than twice the curve radius of the same surfaces in planes perpendicular thereto.

  • Patent number: 4518063
Abstract: An automatic slack adjuster having compression force transmitting elements of adjustable length mounted between a key and a pair of brake shoes is provided with a wheel journalled on the key shaft and at one side in tooth engagement with parts of the force transmitting elements. On the other side of the wheel a spring latch rigidly mounted to the key shaft is arranged to contact ridges and grooves on the wheel to establish a one-way clutch.

  • Patent number: 4180898
Abstract: In a key-activated vehicle wheel drum brake -e.g. a so-called S-cam-brake - means for automatically compensating the wear on the brake lining may be inserted between the key and the brake shoe ends by a method involving the steps of removing the original key as well as a predetermined part of the original brake shoe ends. A new key, new brake shoe ends and new automatic compensation means are subsequently added.

  • Patent number: 4161999
Abstract: The invention relates to an automatic slack adjuster for maintaining a constant slack in a vehicle brake mechanism. The brakes are applied by turning a key flat carried by a key shaft, said key flat acting upon a pair of telescopically displaceable elements the length variations of which are synchronized. A spring member secured to the key shaft actuates the relative displacements of the elements.
