The automatic door operator (30) is operable in a learn mode (60) and an operational mode (70). In the learn mode (60), the controller establishes a linkage reduction curve (65) relating a movement of said door member (10) with the torque required to move the door leaf (12) through different angles (?). The door leaf angles are determined from measurement readings of said door angle sensor (S1).
