    Abstract: A method and device for converting thermal energy from carbonaceous raw materials into mechanical work is provided. The device includes at least one first and one second device for storing and releasing thermal energy connected at least intermittently alternatingly in a turbine branch having a gas turbine connected downstream. The method includes the steps of: a) combusting a gas in a gas burner; b) passing the smoke gases arising in the gas burner through a device for storing thermal energy; and c) feeding the hot air released by at least one device into the gas turbine, wherein the gasification of the carbonaceous raw materials takes place in a gasifier in a first step and the product gas is fed into the gas burner connected downstream of the gasifier.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for utilizing biomass, wherein the following steps are performed: First, at least one raw material containing carbon is thermally gasified. In a next step, the synthesis gas produced in the gasification is purified. During said purification, the temperature of the synthesis gas is changed. Then the synthesis gas is preferably converted into a liquid fuel by means of a catalyzed chemical reaction, wherein a straw-like biomass is selected as the raw material containing carbon, the gasification is performed in a fixed bed reactor, and the ash-softening temperature of the straw-like raw material is increased by adding at least one alkaline-earth salt.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device (35) for converting carbonaceous raw materials and in particular biomass into fuels. In this method, firstly an allothermic gasification of the raw materials is performed in a gasifier (1) using heated water steam (3). After purification of the synthesis gas produced during the gasification and cooling of the synthesis gas, the synthesis gas is converted into a liquid fuel using a catalyzed chemical reaction. According to the invention, the heated water steam is used both as a gasification agent and also as a heat carrier for the gasification and has a temperature which is greater than 1000 DEG C.
