  • Patent number: 5252303
Abstract: An apparatus for sterilizing objects comprising a tubular container part which is removably arranged on an electric supply and control unit. The container part has a chamber-defining inner wall which is also an electrical resistance heating element. Accordingly, the container part may be made with low heat capacity and a correspondingly short heat-up period.

  • Patent number: 4992048
Abstract: A broaching tool has a needle-shaped working portion (2) and a shank portion which is shaped for attachment in the distal end (18) of a drive bar (12) of a drive instrument for the tool. The shank portion of the tool has at least one bend (8) and preferably also a second oppositely directed bend (10). A proximal end (14) of the drive bar (12) of the drive instrument is adapted to be coupled to a vibratory element (16) which, thereby, is able to generate longitudinal high frequency vibrations in the drive bar (12). The distal drive bar end (18) is angled (B) about an axis (22) which acts as a hinge having a certain rigidity of bending. By adapting and matching a. o. the angle (B) and the bends (8, 10) in the tool, it is possible to compensate away distructive natural oscillations in the tool which, thereby, can be powered and used with high working frequencies without risk of fatigue fractures in the material of the tool.

  • Patent number: 4732563
Abstract: A power unit, in particular for dental instruments, comprises a housing (2) which, at one end, has means for supplying electric current and at least one fluid, and, at the other end, has a connector branch or stub for removably mounting a tool unit thereon. The connector stub includes an interior partition wall (18) which defines flow passages for transfer of fluid through the connector stub. This partition wall is in electrically conducting connection (28) with the current supply means, and the partition wall (18) is electrically insulated or separated from the remaining walls of the connector stub. The partition wall (18) has a contact face (19) which is accessible from the exterior of the stub.A tool unit includes a coupling socket with an interior wall (30) for insertion on the connector stub. A contact (38) is mounted in the interior wall (30) and is adapted to provide connection with the contact face (19), when the tool unit is in place on the connector stub.

  • Patent number: 4696644
Abstract: An instrument for cleaning teeth by blowing a powdered abrasive thereon includes a distal nozzle end (10) at which a central conduit (12) has an outlet portion (16) for supplying abrasive and drive gas therefor, and a surrounding annular passage (14) supplying water under pressure. The outlet portion (16) of the central conduit (12) continues beyond an outlet (18) of the annular passage, the outlet (18) being shaped as a restricted annular slot or throttle throat. Thus, a vacuum is created at the outlet portion (16) of the central conduit and this vacuum stabilizes the water jets and thereby counteracts splashes during the use of the instrument.

  • Patent number: 4580562
Abstract: An electrosurgical apparatus comprises a high frequency power generator, a high frequency transformer, a handpiece for mounting an electrode, and a connecting cable between the generator and the handpiece. In order to provide an automatic adaptation or adjustment so that the power delivered by the cutting electrode is continuously changed according to the cutting depth, the effective length of the connecting cable has been adapted to the output frequency of the generator so that the transfer characteristic of the cable provides a true ohmic transfer or reflection of the load at the electrode-end of the cable to the generator-end of the cable.

  • Patent number: 4374374
Abstract: An electric contact or circuit breaker device comprises a base member and an operating member. In a surface of the base member, there is provided at least one elongated indentation wherein an electric conductor is inserted and is without electrical connection with the base member. The operating member includes a cover layer of a resilient material which extends over each indentation in the base member. The cover layer is electrically conducting in order to establish electric connection between the cover layer and the conductor, when a pressure is applied to the cover layer in a direction towards or into the indentation. When the pressure ceases, the resiliency of the cover layer will break the electric connection. The electric contact device thus provided can be sealed in a simple and effective manner against intrusion of dirt and damp and the parts of the device are subjected to minimum mechanical wear.

  • Patent number: 4317072
Abstract: Electric motors which are used for instance as driving motors for drilling and cutting implements incorporated in the handle of such implements, are subjected to strongly varying loads. This puts heavy demands to the regulation system of the motor. In a regulation system the signals which are provided by detectors (22) for currently sensing the position of the rotor relative to the stator, are supplied to a pulse generator (44, 46) which provides a pulse frequency being uniquely associated with the period of the varying detector signal. This pulse signal is supplied to a frequency-to-voltage converter (48) which provides an output signal being supplied to a diferential amplifier (50) as one input signal thereof, the other input signal being a reference DC voltage, and the output signal of the amplifier being supplied to a multiplier unit (40, 42) as one input signal thereof, the other input signal being said detector signal.

  • Patent number: 4225803
Abstract: The invention concerns an improved apparatus for removing interior material coatings in various containers such as sanitary bowls. The apparatus may be partially or completely immersed or introduced into liquid in a container to be cleaned and due to an improved arrangement of high frequency vibrator elements in the interior of an immersed apparatus housing, a particularly efficient and uniform power emission may be achieved from the oscillating housing walls, said power providing cavitations at the container walls to be cleaned whereby coatings may be loosened in an effective manner without damaging the container walls.

  • Patent number: 4205236
Abstract: An improved control system for hand-held appliances, in particular but not exclusively dental instruments is disclosed. The basic features of the improved control system are a closed or sealed enclosure or container to be mounted on a part of the appliance, preferably on the exterior surface of a handle portion thereof. The enclosure contains a deformable working medium body such as a fluid body which is adapted to effect actuation, operation or control of an actuatable device associated with the appliance. The actuatable device may be a regulator, a transducer or a motor. The control system is an indirectly acting type in which the working medium is displaced by locally compressing the enclosure. This displacement is used to move or operate a movable wall part of the enclosure which, in turn, operates a transducer or regulator unit in response to the degree of compression of the enclosure.
