Patent number: 9060730Abstract: A method and a kit for quantification of at least one predictor promoting at least one multifactorial disease, intended for use in assessment of the risk for developing or progression of the at least one multifactorial disease for a subject are disclosed. The kit comprises a plurality of reservoir units (320), each reservoir unit (320) being arranged to releasably retain a skin irritation agent adapted to provoke an unspecific inflammatory response of skin. The kit comprises an estimation unit adapted to estimate a quantification of the at least one predictor on basis of an assessment of the at least one predictor performed by a user on basis of an assessment of the degree of severity of the inflammatory response to the skin irritation agent at each of a plurality of skin sites according to a predetermined inflammatory response criteria performed by the user and relative impact of the at least one predictor on the progress of the at least one multifactorial disease.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2009Date of Patent: June 23, 2015Assignee: DENTOSYSTEM SCANDINAVIA ABInventor: Sven Lindskog

Publication number: 20120116799Abstract: The invention relates to a method, system and a device for assessing the risk for periodontitis progression or for developing periodontitis, and a method, system and a device for prognosticating the outcome of a treatment procedure for treating periodontitis, on the basis of a risk score calculated on the basis of weight factors, which may be associated with numerical values, assigned to a plurality of measures corresponding to a plurality of predictors promoting periodontitis comprising host predictors, local predictors, and systemic predictors for periodontitis progression or for developing periodontitis for a patient. The invention provides among other things an objective tool that allows for preventive measures to be taken in time before severe and often irreversible damage caused by periodontitis has occurred, by taking into account the most important risk predictors promoting periodontitis, and in particular takes into account the synergy between these predictors.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2009Publication date: May 10, 2012Inventors: Sven Lindskog, Leif Blomlöf

Patent number: 6340455Abstract: Skin prick test for the determination of the predisposition of an individual to develop marginal periodontitis, said kit comprising: (a) a first reagent containing a known quantity of a surface structure common to anaerobic Gram negative pathogens which is capable of triggering the inflammatory response associated with periodontitis and gingivitis; (b) second reagent containing an agonist to said individual; (c) a negative control; and (d) instructions for the use of said kit; and a method for such determination of predisposition.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1999Date of Patent: January 22, 2002Assignee: Peridoc ABInventors: Leif Blomlöf, Sven Lindskog, Olle Zetterström

Patent number: 6197212Abstract: A process for the conditioning of dental cavities by etching in preparation for bonding restoration to enamel and dentin, comprising the steps: a) etching the dentin part of a dental cavity using an aqueous composition containing, as an active constituent, EDTA, in an effective amount, and b) etching the enamel part of said cavity using a conventional etching acid; and a kit for use in such process for conditioning.Type: GrantFiled: January 26, 1999Date of Patent: March 6, 2001Assignee: Peridoc ABInventors: Sven Lindskog, Leif Blomlöf

Patent number: 5861167Abstract: A composition for use in biological, mineralized surface conditioning, especially tooth root conditioning, by selective removal of parts of an exposed tooth root surface so as to improve subsequent attachment of the tooth in conjunction with periodontal surgery, includes, as an active constituent, an effective amount of ethylene-diaminotetraacetic acid (EDTA) in combination with an aqueous matrix. A method of tooth root conditioning includes, in a preferred embodiment, the step of applying to an exposed tooth root surface a viscous composition of EDTA in a concentration of no less than 80% by weight of the concentration at saturation of EDTA.Type: GrantFiled: May 12, 1997Date of Patent: January 19, 1999Assignee: Biora ABInventors: Sven Lindskog, Leif Blomlof

Patent number: 5418221Abstract: Binding between parts of living mineralized tissue such as between a tooth and the jaw bone is induced with a composition containing mammalian enamel matrix isolated from tooth germs and a carrier such as water, and optionally an adhesive containing fibrinogen, factor XIII and thrombin. The enamel matrix is a precursor to tooth enamel and induces binding by forming cementum tissue. The enamel matrix may be obtained from bovine or porcine species. The composition is particularly applicable in dental therapies including loosening of teeth due to periodontitis, transplantation of teeth or in reintroduction of teeth disconnected by accident. The composition may also be used for healing of artificial implants such as tooth implants and implants of skeletal replacements such as artificial hip joints. In the case of a dislocated tooth, the composition is applied to a surface of the tooth root and the tooth is put back into its alveolus and lightly fixed for some weeks.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1994Date of Patent: May 23, 1995Assignee: Bioventures N.V.Inventors: Lars Hammarstrom, Leif Blomlof, Sven Lindskog
