  • Patent number: 6571489
Abstract: For a single chamber air drier in a compressed air system on a vehicle the volume of dry regeneration air required to regenerate a desiccant in the air drier has to be determined. This can be accomplished in that data regarding system pressure, outdoor temperature and supplied air volume are continuously provided to a compute, which in relation to these parameters controls the supply of regeneration air to the air drier.

  • Patent number: 6484413
Abstract: An air drier comprises a base member with means for supplying and carrying away air to and from the air drier, respectively, a cylindrical, dome-shaped container releasably attached to the base member, and in the container a replaceable cartridge for desiccant. The cartridge is divided by a cylindrical dividing wall into a central compartment containing desiccant and an outer annular compartment. The top wall of the cartridge is provided with holes or passages for allowing air communication inside the container between the two compartments.

  • Publication number: 20020112366
Abstract: For a single chamber air drier (SD) in a compressed air system on a vehicle the volume of dry regeneration air required to regenerate a desiccant in the air drier has to be determined. This can be accomplished in that data regarding system pressure (p), outdoor temperature (T) and supplied air volume are continuously provided to a computer (ECU), which in relation to these parameters controls the supply of regeneration air to the air drier.

  • Patent number: 6342093
Abstract: An air drier arrangement including an air compressor (1), an air-drier (3) and air conduits (2, 4). In order to obtain favorable working conditions for the arrangement under different temperatures there is a switch-over valve (6) in a separate signal air pipe (5) from the air drier to the compressor. This valve is operable between a first position, giving a governor mode for the arrangement, and a second position, giving an unloader mode for the arrangement. The operations of the valve may be governed by a thermostat (9).

  • Patent number: 5730172
Abstract: An inlet valve for an air drier between an inlet (35) from a compressor and an inlet bore (32) comprises an axially movable valve element (31), a spring (34) for biasing the valve element into a closing position against a seat (30'), and a valve element shoulder (31'), on which the pressure in the inlet is arranged to act in a valve opening direction. A sealing on the shoulder is in the form of a U-sealing (36) allowing air under pressure admitted to the underside of the valve element for urging the latter in a valve closing direction to pass by the sealing to the inlet but preventing flow in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 5234482
Abstract: A retarding valve at a single-tower air drier for obtaining a controlled time for the flow of regenerating air from an air tank to a desiccant cartridge has a movable valve stem (7), which is provided with a piston (14) having a slightly smaller diameter than a chamber (13), in which it is movable in hydraulic oil (15), so that a narrow circumferential slit for the oil is formed. The valve stem with its piston is biased by a spring (16) from a position--at the beginning of each regenerating cycle--permitting flow through the valve to a position closing off flow through the valve.

  • Patent number: 5062505
Abstract: A brake block holder arrangement comprises a brake block holder (7) receiving a brake force from an axially movable push rod (2) of a brake actuator (1) and being pivotally attached to brake block hangers (5), which are suspended from a suspension bracket (4) on the actuator. A push rod head (3) on the push rod is in direct contact with a generally tube-shaped portion of the brake block holder around its shaft (8) for pivotal connection to the hangers. For accomplishing guiding and torque transmission the push rod head has extensions (11, 12) with a width corresponding to the distance between the side-walls (7') of the brake block holder, one of the extensions being provided with a laterally movable cross piece (19) for toothed engagement with rotatable segments (16) in the inner surfaces of the side-walls.

  • Patent number: 4581047
Abstract: A drying tower for a compressed air drier includes a base (5) and a reservoir (4) containing a cartridge (8) filled with filter material (12) and desiccant (11).In order to obtain an optimal utilization of the desiccant and of the space the cartridge (8) completely fills the reservoir (4) and is provided with two longitudinal partition walls (13, 14) perpendicular to each other and having two openings (15) at the end remote from the base, so that--aided by suitable shaping of the base--the air will be transported in a winding path consecutively through all four desiccant-filled compartments formed by the walls.
