  • Publication number: 20180044038
Abstract: A bond fixture including a plurality of supports mounted about a surface. At least one of the plurality of supports includes a vertical member and a hand crank operable to adjust a position of the vertical member. A first fixture is disposed at an end of the bond fixture and is movable relative to the surface. The first fixture includes a base and a support extending from the base. A second fixture includes a first member and a second member movably coupled. A fastener extending between the first member and the second member controls relative movement of the first member and the second member to define an opening there between. Each of the first member and the second member includes a plate having a heater formed therein.

  • Publication number: 20180044006
Abstract: A caul assembly includes a semi-rigid caul plate formed in a shape complementary to a portion of a component receivable therein and a heater located at an exterior surface of the semi-rigid caul plate. The heater is adapted to apply heat to a localized portion of the component.

  • Publication number: 20180043418
Abstract: A bond fixture includes a frame that defines a chamber for receiving a component. At least one bladder assembly is mounted to the frame and extends into the chamber to apply a pressure to an adjacent surface of the component. A caul assembly is positionable about the component and receivable within the chamber. The caul assembly heats a localized portion of the component.

  • Publication number: 20180002038
Abstract: A method of making a rotor blade assembly includes receiving a sheath assembly and a blade body at a blade assembly tool. The sheath assembly is spread by applying force to an interior surface of the sheath assembly. The blade body is inserted within the interior of the sheath assembly, registered with the sheath assembly, and the force removed from the interior surface of the sheath assembly such that the sheath assembly collapses on the blade body.

  • Publication number: 20170138715
Abstract: A tool is provided for characterizing a blade geometry. The tool includes a first component attachable to a blade root of a blade and a second component attachable to leading and trailing edges of the blade at a blade tip and at multiple stations defined along a span-wise dimension of the blade. The second component is configured for characterization of a chord length of the blade at the blade tip and at the multiple stations. The first and second components are respectively configured for cooperative optical characterization of a sweep and a twist angle of the blade at the blade tip and at the multiple stations.

  • Publication number: 20160288218
Abstract: A system for transferring a hole pattern from a first component to a second component configured to couple to the first component is provided including a contour plate having a drill plate with a hole pattern substantially identical to the hole pattern of the first component. The position of the drill plate is adjustable to match the hole pattern of the drill plate with the hole pattern of the first component. A slidable fixture configured to support the second component is movable to align the second component with the drill plate such that the hole pattern of the drill plate in relation to the second component matches the hole pattern of the drill plate in relation to the hole pattern of the first component. The hole pattern of the drill plate is used to create a hole pattern in the second component matching the hole pattern of the first component.
