  • Patent number: 4190963
Abstract: In the chamber of a fluidized bed reactor for processing powdered products, a pneumatic cleansing device is arranged which comprises at least one pipe member mounted to be movable parallel to a perforated powder supporting plate at a small distance from the upper side thereof and having nozzles for ejecting air or gas towards the supporting plate to remove depositions of material from the upper side thereof between the perforations in the plate through which a fluidization gas flows upwardly to form a fluidized powder layer overlying the plate. The cleansing device may comprise additional pipe members with nozzles for ejecting air or gas towards the side wall and ceiling of the chamber and may be constructed for use in a box-shaped chamber as well as a cylindrical chamber for fluidized bed reactors of the plug-flow or spray granulation types.

  • Patent number: 4070765
Abstract: A mixer-granulator, preferably a spiral path granulator, is combined with a pneumatic conveyor dryer in a process for converting a solution or suspension into a dried particulate product. In a preferred embodiment, the particles formed in the mixer-granulator show a non-equilibrium moisture distribution with an interior part of lower moisture content and a surface part of higher moisture content.

  • Patent number: 4062641
Abstract: An agglomerating unit having a rotatable, conical, downwardly, narrowing section on the interior surface of which moistened powder is deposited. Close to said interior surface a stationary scraper is mounted. When the conical section is rotated the powder is dislodged from said surface by the scraper. A very efficient removal of powder is obtained whereby the risk of biological or chemical deterioration of the powder is reduced.

  • Patent number: 4055903
Abstract: A method and apparatus for drying disintegrated fiber mass or paper pulp comprising substantially free single fibers and wads or lumps of fibers. The disintegrated fiber mass is exposed to hot drying air or gas at a temperature of at least 180.degree. C. Free fibers are separated from the fiber mass during or after the drying process in order to avoid or compensate for excessive heating and drying of these free fibers. This facilitates a later grinding process in which the dried fiber mass is ground after addition of water.
