Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for facilitating remote participance in a community. A method may include causing an anchor terminal located at a first location to use a proximity-based wireless communication technology to participate in an ad hoc community formed at least in part by the anchor terminal and one or more further terminals at the first location using the proximity-based wireless communication technology to communicate with each other. The method may further include causing the anchor terminal to maintain a connection to a structured network, thereby enabling a remote terminal to participate in the community. The method may additionally include, in an instance in which the remote terminal participates in the community, causing the anchor terminal to serve as a gateway between the terminals participating in the community at the first location and the remote terminal. A corresponding apparatus is also provided.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for configuring and controlling guest access sharing. In the context of a method, a method is provided that includes causing a network scan to be initiated and receiving the results of said network scan, the results comprising information regarding an access point and determining, based on the received results, whether the access point comprises two or more network interfaces. The method further includes causing a guest access sharing configuration procedure to be initiated if the access point comprises two or more network interfaces. The guest access sharing configuration procedure includes causing guest access information to be uploaded to a server. Another method is provided that includes receiving and storing guest access information, receiving a request to obtain the guest access information and causing the guest access information to be provided to a device if the device has permission to access it.

Abstract: An approach is provided for controlling access to resources according to social connections and/or characteristics of the resources. An access control platform determines one or more resources associated with at least one user, at least one device associated with the at least one user, or a combination thereof. The access control platform further processes and/or facilitates a processing of social networking information associated with the at least one user, the at least one device, or a combination thereof to determine one or more social networking groups. The access control platform also causes, at least in part, a controlling of access to the one or more resources for one or more other users, one or more other devices associated with the one or more other users, or a combination thereof based, at least in part, on membership in the one or more social networking groups.

Abstract: There are provided measures for non-conflicting traffic control with different types of network selection information. Such measures exemplarily comprise performing traffic control based on a combination of (e.g. cellular type) access-related network selection information with respect to a network or a network technology type with (e.g. non-/cellular type) routing-related network selection information with respect to traffic type based routing information. Such measures are exemplarily, but not exclusively, applicable in the context of coexisting cellular and non-cellular networks or network technology types providing connectivity to a transport network.

Abstract: In a non-limiting and example embodiment, a method is provided for access parameter sharing. An access point receives a first message from a second apparatus, the first message comprising an information element indicating if access credentials may be requested for the access point. The apparatus determines, based on the first message, whether access credentials of the access point may be requested. In response to detecting that the access credentials may be requested, the apparatus transmits a request message for requesting the access credentials of the second apparatus. The access credentials are received from a third apparatus, different from the access point.
