  • Patent number: 10808497
Abstract: Methods of treating a subterranean formation penetrated by a well bore, by providing a treatment fluid comprising a blend including a first amount of particulates having a first average particle size between about 3 mm and 2 cm and a second amount of particulates having a second average size between about 1.6 and 20 times smaller than the first average particle size or a second amount of flakes having a second average size up to 10 times smaller than the first average particle size; by introducing the treatment fluid into the well bore; and by creating a plug with the treatment fluid.

  • Publication number: 20190063181
Abstract: A method for plugging or sealing voids in a formation may include introducing deformable pouches enclosing solid particulate materials into a fluid being pumped down the well; and injecting the deformable pouches into the voids of the formation; wherein at least one dimension of the deformable pouches may be between about 1 mm and 100 mm.

  • Publication number: 20150315886
Abstract: A method is given for reducing the flow of a treatment fluid in a well, for example for zonal isolation or for stimulation fluid diversion. The method includes preparing a High Solids Content Fluid (a pumpable slurry containing a carrier fluid and a packed volume fraction of at least 50 per cent solids having a multi-model size distribution), injecting the high solids content fluid into the well, placing the high solids content fluid at the location at which fluid flow is to be decreased, and either reducing the volume or increasing the viscosity of the carrier fluid. Optionally, at least a portion of the solids in the High Solids Content Fluid is subsequently removable to restore fluid flow.
