  • Publication number: 20140034177
Abstract: A hose for use in bio-pharmaceutical applications includes an innermost tubular layer made from a fluoropolymer material. The tubular layer has an inner, relatively smooth and pure surface that defines an opening for transfer of various media. A layer of silicone is disposed next to an outer surface of the innermost tubular layer through use of, for example, an extrusion method. The outer surface of the tubular layer may first be modified by various treatments or chemicals to facilitate the adhesion of the silicone layer thereto. The silicone material may be solid or foamed. A reinforcement layer may be disposed adjacent to an outer surface of the silicone layer. The reinforcement layer may be formed of a wire braid having gaps. An outer jacket of silicone may be attached to the reinforcement layer and to the inner silicone layer through the gaps in the reinforcement layer.

  • Publication number: 20130214185
Abstract: The present application relates to valve and actuator assemblies. The valve actuator assemblies may include a capless valve actuating arrangement, include a replaceable passage defining member that includes seal members, include a valve member that is assembled in a valve chamber from an end of the valve body that is opposite an end that a piston is assembled in, and/or include a valve member that may be rotated in a valve body without affecting the ability of the valve member to perform its sealing functions.

  • Publication number: 20130214192
Abstract: The seal made between two surfaces is enhanced by forming a coating, such as a self-assembled monolayer of a functionalized fluorinated macromolecule, on one or both of the surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20130186520
Abstract: Low temperature gas carburization of stainless steel using acetylene as the carburizing specie is carried out under soft vacuum conditions in the presence of hydrogen or other companion gas. Carburization is made to go faster by including HCl or other carbon-free, halogen-containing activating compound in the carburizing gas being fed to the carburization reactor.

  • Publication number: 20130181445
Abstract: A conduit fitting includes a conduit connecting device, a jacket sealing device, and a venting device. The conduit connecting device grips and seals against an unjacketed portion of a metal conduit when the conduit connecting device is assembled on the metal conduit. The jacket sealing device can be joined with at least one of the metal conduit and the conduit connecting device to seal against a jacketed portion of the metal conduit, to at least partially define a cavity between the conduit connecting device and the jacketed portion of the conduit. The venting device is configured to move from a sealing position to a venting position to vent pressure in the cavity.

  • Publication number: 20130154261
Abstract: A fitting is provided that may optionally be pulled-up to its final assembled condition by torque rather than by turns. In one embodiment, at least one fitting component includes a structure that facilitates pull-up by torque. The structure may take a wide variety of different forms.

  • Publication number: 20130140815
Abstract: A fitting assembly is provided with a first fitting component having a stepped wall surface; and a second fitting component radially spaced from the first fitting component when the fitting assembly is in a finger tight condition prior to pull-up. When the second fitting component is displaced into contact with the stepped wall surface during fitting pull-up, the stepped wall surface assists in separating the first fitting component from the second fitting component upon fitting disassembly.
