Patent number: 11025497Abstract: An apparatus controls discovery of nodes for a network fabric and accommodates communication among the nodes. The apparatus may be a controller operating as a first node on a network and having a processor connected to memory. The controller is communicatively connected to a second node that has a native network protocol. The memory stores computer readable software instructions that, when implemented by the processor, cause the controller to send a discovery data packet to the second node in the second node's native network protocol. The discovery data packet advertises controller status information to the second node for use in establishing a communications link between the controller and the second node in the network fabric.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2019Date of Patent: June 1, 2021Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Naiming Shen, Zach Cherian, Nag Avadhanam, Swapna Yelamanchi

Patent number: 10237079Abstract: In one embodiment, a sleep proxy device identifies one or more services offered by a first node in the network. The sleep proxy device announces the one or more identified services to a second node in the network on behalf of the first node. The sleep proxy device intercepts an attempt by the second node to use the one or more services offered by the first node. The sleep proxy device causes the first node to switch from a low power state to an awake state, based on the intercepted attempt.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2017Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Selvaraj Mani, Swapna Yelamanchi, Amarender Musku, Rakesh Reddy Kandula, Deep Preet Singh, Shwetha Subray Bhandari, Shrirang Arvind Bage

Patent number: 8948191Abstract: A network element acts as a gateway to a data network for a subscriber end station. The network element includes control plane operable to communicate with a first network processing unit (NPU) and a second NPU, which are operable to communicate with the subscriber end station. The control plane includes a quota management module, which determines a quota amount to be assigned to the first NPU and the second NPU. The quota management module assigns a portion of the quota amount to the first NPU and another portion of the quota amount to the second NPU. The quota management module may determine to change the distribution of an unconsumed quota amount between the first NPU and the second NPU, determine the unconsumed quota amount, and assign a portion of the unconsumed quota amount to the first NPU and another portion of the unconsumed quota amount to the second NPU.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2011Date of Patent: February 3, 2015Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Brian Kean, Suraj Jaiswal, Swapna Yelamanchi

Patent number: 8068490Abstract: Methods and systems for multicast group address translation are disclosed. A method includes receiving a request for data source content from a multicast group data source content requester and retrieving the data source content from the data source, where the data source content that is retrieved has associated destination addresses. Moreover, the method includes providing access to the data source content for translation of the destination addresses associated with the data source content, where the destination addresses fall within a first range of multicast group addresses. The method further includes receiving packets that have translated destination addresses that prior to translation fall within the first range of multicast addresses. The translated destination addresses fall within a second range of multicast group addresses.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2006Date of Patent: November 29, 2011Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Swapna Yelamanchi, Dharti Dhami

Publication number: 20070098003Abstract: A Multicast Source Discovery Protocol (MSDP) speaker can associate a “key” with a set of one or more source address/group address pairs within a Source Active (SA) message and send the SA message to a MSDP peer. Initially, the MSDP speaker sends both the key and the source address/group address pairs associated with that key. Subsequently, the MSDP speaker can simply resend the key, without also sending all of the associated source address/group address pairs, in order to refresh the SA information at the peer. Additionally, several keys can be sent in a single message.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2005Publication date: May 3, 2007Inventors: Arjen Boers, Swapna Yelamanchi
