Abstract: A method includes determining that a first topic is trending during a particular time period based on monitoring of a plurality of content items published during the particular time period, identifying a first subset of content items that (a) reference the first topic and (b) are published during the particular time period in which the first topic is trending, determining that a second topic is trending within the first subset of content items, and responsive to determining that the second topic is trending within the first subset of the content items, determining that the second topic is associated with a trending of the first topic.

Abstract: A first search is executed to obtain a first set of search results corresponding to a first geographical search area. A determination is made that the first set of search results does not meet a search results criteria. A second geographical search region is dynamically selected for executing a second search in response to determining that the first set of search results does not meet the search results criteria. The second search is executed to obtain a second set of search results corresponding to the second geographical search area.
