  • Patent number: 10938218
Abstract: Solar tracker systems having several rows of photovoltaic strings individually actuated by respective tracker control systems, are described. In an example, a solar tracker system includes a tracker control system having a tracker controller powered by forward-fed power from a photovoltaic string, e.g., during daytime, and powered by back-fed power from a station hub, e.g., during nighttime. Methods of operating the solar tracker system to forward-feed or back-feed power to the tracker control system are also described.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 9, 2016
Date of Patent: March 2, 2021
    Assignee: SunPower Corporation
Inventors: Cedric Jeanty, Jason Charles Jones, Zachary Judkins, Ramakrishna Jupalli, Jacob Marshall, Sy Olson, Bart Wiktorowicz

  • Publication number: 20170063294
Abstract: Concentrating reflectors for solar energy systems can include compound curvatures producing distinct beams of light which can be aimed and shaped so as to be superimposed at a desired location, such as a plane or a solar energy receiver. Additionally, the distinct beams can have different converging characteristics producing different irradiation intensity patterns on the desired location and which when added, produce more uniform irradiation intensity distribution over the desired location.

  • Publication number: 20150249426
Abstract: A junction box for a photovoltaic module can include an angled interface that is configured to couple solar cells to an external component (e.g., another junction box, inverter, etc.). In some embodiments, the angled interface is integrated into the housing of the junction box.
