  • Publication number: 20120151087
Abstract: A system and method for providing a network proxy data tunnel (NPDT), for use in large corporate network environments. A data tunnel is configured to multiplex/de-multiplex IP network transmission, and optimize the network protocol (e.g. TCP, UDP). A data reduction protocol is also used to optimize the network transmission. By multiplexing from the sender, and de-multiplexing on the receiver side, network bandwidth can be enhanced and optimized. The technique also greatly reduces network latency across networks and increases data throughput rate. In accordance with an embodiment, the system can use both network-based and content-based techniques to increase the data throughput rate. The data tunnel can encompass nearly all the latency in the data path, and allow minimal latency between the source of the data and the beginning of the data tunnel; or between the end of the tunnel and the data target.

  • Patent number: 7783712
Abstract: A portable storage device is connected to a first computer and the email data is synchronized between the first computer and the device. The portable storage device can then be connected to a second computer that has an email program that is incompatible with the first computer's email program. The second computer is personalized with the email data retrieved from the portable device. The user is allowed to use the second computer to send or receive emails and otherwise alter the email data. Upon logging out of the second computer, any changes made thereon can be recorded to the portable storage device. The device can then be re-connected to the first computer and the data can once again be re-synchronized. The universal format database enables bidirectional synchronization and conversion of email data between multiple incompatible format email programs.

  • Publication number: 20070283275
Abstract: In accordance with embodiments, there are provided mechanisms and methods for instructing a processor to reposition desktop icons. These mechanisms and methods for instructing a processor to reposition desktop icons can enable embodiments to provide a screen at a computer system using information from another computer system and a portable storage device. The ability of embodiments to provide a screen at a computer system using information from another computer system and a portable storage device can enable users to simulate the experience of working on their own computer while working at an away computer.

  • Patent number: 6614940
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided for compression of characters. Upon receipt of a plurality of characters, at least one test is performed on the characters to determine if an outline of the characters is capable of being approximated by a mathematical approximation. If the outline of the characters is capable of being approximated, the characters are approximated using the mathematical approximation.

  • Patent number: 6577253
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided for compression of characters. Initially, characters are received after which a mathematical representation for the characters is selected based on a desired level of compression quality of the characters. Such characters are then represented using the selected mathematical representation so that the mathematical representation of the characters may be compressed.

  • Publication number: 20020146181
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided for multi-lingual text editing on any one of a plurality of devices. Initially, a device is identified. Thereafter, a text editing application is programmed for the device using the present invention as the core of the editor. Such programming includes implementing a user interface in accordance with the identified device, and writing a very small amount of additional code for the specific device. Next, the text editing application is loaded with data to support a plurality of languages. As such, during use, the text editing application may select languages that are to be used with edited documents.
