  • Publication number: 20190270839
Abstract: A method of preparing a retort packaging article includes: includes applying an ink to an outer surface of a sealable packaging and overlaying a substantially transparent lamination layer over the ink to envelope at least a portion of the sealable packaging. The ink includes a binder that includes a polyurethane resin that contains an elastomer which is a reaction product of a polyol and polyalkylene glycol with an isocyanate. The elastomer may be chain extended with a diamine or a diol.

  • Publication number: 20080041522
Abstract: In one aspect the invention is a composition comprising a prepolymer which is the reaction product of di(isocyanatophenyl) methane or a polymeric di(isocyanatophenyl) methane having an isocyanato functionality of about 2.1 to about 3.0 with a mixture of one or more diols and one or more triols wherein the ratio of isocyanate equivalents to hydroxyl equivalents in the reaction mixtures used to prepare the prepolymer is from about 1.2 to about 1.8 and the ratio of diol to triol where the diisocyanate is a di(isocyanatophenyl) methane in the reaction mixture is from about 5:1 to about 1:1. and where the isocyanate is a polymeric di(isocyanatophenyl) methane is from about 8:1 to about 4:1; wherein the prepolymer could further react with an isocyanate reactive monofunctional compound. The prepolymer herein has an isocyanate content of about 0.5 to about 1.5 percent by weight, a free isocyanate monomer content of about 1.0 percent by weight or less as measured by high pressure liquid chromatography.

  • Publication number: 20070157953
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of preparing a substrate for bonding that includes applying a cleanser to a reaction injection molded component. The substrate is dried to remove some or all of the liquid of the cleanser. The invention also relates to methods of bonding two substrates together. After cleaning the surface of one substrate with a basic solution, a primer may be applied to the cleaned surface or to a second substrate. An adhesive is then used to join the substrates together.

  • Publication number: 20070151178
Abstract: The invention is a composition comprising: a) one or more film forming resins having at least one functional group capable of polymerization; b) one or more reactive diluents capable of reacting with the film forming resin; c) one or more silicon, titanium, zirconium, aluminum or metal containing compounds capable of promoting adhesion of the composition to glass; d) one or more fillers capable of imparting abrasion resistance to the composition when cured; and e) one or more compounds which is reactive with the film forming resin which also contains at least one acidic moiety. The composition of the invention is useful as a frit on the window of a vehicle. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for applying the coatings to glass and a method for bonding the coated glass to a structure or substrate, for instance, a building.

  • Publication number: 20070093628
Abstract: The invention is an adhesive composition comprising a) one or more silane functional prepolymers comprising a polyether or a polyolefin backbone and silane moieties capable of silanol condensation; b) one or more isocyanate functional prepolymers comprising a polyether backbone and isocyanate moieties; c) one or more organotin compounds or titanate or zirconate compounds having one or more ligands comprising a hydrocarbyl phosphate ester or a hydrocarbyl sulfonate ester, or a mixture thereof; d) a tertiary amine or an anhydrous strong organic acid which is miscible with the polymer and enhances the bonding of the adhesive to a coated unprimed substrate. In one embodiment, the invention is a method of bonding two or more substrates together using the adhesive compositions of this invention. The process comprises applying an adhesive as described herein to one or more of the substrates; contacting the one or more substrates with the adhesive disposed between the substrates; and allowing the adhesive to cure.
