  • Patent number: 12275654
Abstract: A zero liquid brine desalination and crystallization system includes a humidification dehumidification (HDH) desalination system and includes a crystallization system. The HDH system includes a humidifier configured to humidify a carrier gas using saline water, and a dehumidifier configured to dehumidify the carrier gas to obtain desalinated water. The crystallization system is configured to receive the saline water from the HDH desalination system and includes an evaporation chamber configured to produce salt crystals and water vapor from the saline water, and a condenser configured to condense the water vapor. Herein, the HDH desalination system and the crystallization system are connected at the condenser for heat exchange between the water vapor and at least one selected from the group consisting of the saline water and the carrier gas.

  • Publication number: 20240066941
Abstract: A battery thermal management system (BTMS) for an electric vehicle and a hybrid electric vehicle is provided. The BTMS includes a refrigerant circuit having an evaporator, a chiller, one or more condensers, a compressor, an ejector, a primary directional control valve (DCV), a secondary DCV, an ejector DCV, a compressor input and output DCVs, a reference DCV, throttling valves, and controller to cool or heat the battery and passenger cabin. A coolant circuit having the battery, battery cooler, a battery output DCV, and a battery input DCV is communicated with the refrigerant circuit via the chiller. The battery input and output DCVs are coupled to the battery cooler and coupled to each other to isolate the refrigerant circuit. The controller controls the DCVs based on an optimal battery temperature range, coolant temperature, ambient temperature, passenger cabin temperature, and optimal passenger cabin temperature range.

  • Patent number: 11485660
Abstract: A method for desalination is provided. An electric potential difference is applied across a saline solution, where a salinity of the saline solution is in a range of 2.5 to 7.8 parts per thousand. The saline solution is separated, using electrodialysis, into a concentrated saline solution and a first diluate. The concentrated saline solution is transferred to a reverse osmosis chamber. The concentrated saline solution is pumped through a partially permeable membrane, thereby removing salt ions from the concentrated saline solution, and creating a second diluate and a brine solution. A pressure of the solution is then increased, using a pressure exchanger, by transferring water pressure from the brine solution to the concentrated saline solution. The first diluate and the second diluate are combined, where a first recovery ratio of the first diluate is greater than a second recovery ratio of the second diluate.
