Abstract: A method and apparatus for automatically selecting a wireless access network for a mobile device without intervention of the user comprises a method for selecting, according to the location of a mobile device, a connection interface for connecting to a wireless access network. The mobile device is equipped with a plurality of connection interfaces, the method allowing the access networks available at the location of the mobile device to be identified, a plurality ‘n’ of measurements of the quality of the signals for each identified access network to be taken for each connection interface of the mobile device, the ‘n’ measurements to be evaluated, for each connection interface, according to predefined evaluation criteria, and the results of the evaluations to be compared in order to select the connection interface having the best evaluation of the quality of the signal from among the plurality of connection interfaces of the mobile device.
