  • Patent number: 4979215
Abstract: A method of digitally evaluating the frequency and the phase of signals in the form of digitized samples, the method being wherein it comprises in succession:a stage during which numbers corresponding to the samples of the signals to be analyzed are processed in order to convert them into the form of an analytic signal whose real portion coincides with said signal to be analyzed; and, in parallel therewith:a stage of estimating the parameters to be analyzed which is performed in an overall manner on the basis of estimators and of selection criteria by working on the phase of the signal without using any operator of the Fourrier transform type of any hypothesis test either separately or simultaneously; anda stage of estimating the differences between the real signal as taken in this way and the signal obtained from the estimated parameters, thereby making it possible to deliver data in digital form relating to the quality of the analyzed signal and to the reliability of the estimated values.

  • Patent number: 4885756
Abstract: A signal may be demodulated without using any analog components by using a digital processor. A digitizer delivers the amplitude of the signal to be demodulated at a sampling rate. The signal is acquired from the digitizer and stored in a common memory. The amplitude samples are converted to phase samples. Symbol rate phase hypotheses are generated for splitting the time signal into slices. The carrier phase for one symbol is then calculated for each symbol rate phase hypothesis so that the carrier phase can be estimated over a plurality of (S) symbols. The symbol phase is compared to the carrier phase so that the demodulated signal may be extracted and so that the quality of the demodulation may be estimated.

  • Patent number: 4731783
Abstract: A frame (T) is sub-divided into identical time slots (61, 62, . . . , 6N) of fixed duration, each of which is capable of containing at least one lowest data rate telephone channel. These time slots are assigned on demand so that a new call is spread over one or more bursts (81, 82, 83, 84) which are located in available ones of said time slots, or else in space which may be left available in time slots which are already partially occupied by other, low data rate calls.

  • Patent number: 4377760
Abstract: An analog device for reading a quantity of electric charge, for example, in a transversal charge transfer filter. The device includes a capacitor and two MOS transistors which are connected in series to the point in the filter where the charge is to be read. The capacitor is connected to the common point of the two transistors which are controlled in phase opposition to insure charging of the capacitor. The capacitor maintains a potential at the charge reading point constant. Any variation in the quantity of charge under an electrode is converted into a variation of potential at the common point and this forms the read signal which is detected by means of a third MOS transistor.

  • Patent number: 4257019
Abstract: As all the weighting coefficients of the filter are positive, a weighted charge quantity is collected by a line beneath one of the elementary electrodes of each weighting electrode. A charge reading device is coupled to the line and supplies an electrical signal which is transmitted to the negative input of a differential amplifier, which receives the sampled input voltage of the filter at its positive input. The electrical output signal of the filter is taken, under low impedance, at the output of the differential amplifier, said signal being reinjected at the input of the filter by the injecting means.

  • Patent number: 4224605
Abstract: An analog-digital coder applicable for the coding of analog information in accordance with non-linear functions of compression such as the laws A and .mu. as set forth in the standards of the CCITT (International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee). For non-linear coding the analog information is applied to an analog switch whose output signals are applied to an adder which also receives the output voltage of an amplifier. The output voltage of the adder is applied to a multiplier-analog memory which comprises a charge transfer device. Their output is coupled to the input of the amplifier. A comparator compares the output voltage of the multiplier-memory with a given voltage and controls a logic switching circuit which generates the coded output signal.

  • Patent number: 4145676
Abstract: An input stage for a transversal charge transfer filter, which suppresses parasitic image frequencies. It comprises two parallel channels to which the input signal is applied simultaneously. Sampling of the signal is performed in each channel with a periodicity Te, and a relative phase-shift of Te/2. The two samples are then added in order to eliminate components having periodicities in the neighborhood of Te.The present invention relates to low-pass filters using the phenomenon of electrical charge transfer occurring in a semiconductor. It relates more particularly to an input stage for this kind of CTD (Charge Transfer Device) filter, which attenuates parasitic frequencies. The design of CTD low-pass filters, often referred to as transversal filters, poses a classic problem due to the fact that the input stage is a sampling stage.

  • Patent number: 4095219
Abstract: The holding integrator of the arrangement, which integrator is to integrate the signal to be encoded during time intervals T.sub.1 = pT separated by time intervals T.sub.2 = qT in the course of which the integrated value is to be memorized for comparison with one or two ramp signals, comprises a charge transfer device with (p+q) stages receiving advance signals having a period T. The signal to be encoded is applied to the injection circuit of the charge transfer device during the intervals T.sub.1 while a zero voltage is applied thereto during the intervals T.sub.2.

  • Patent number: 4063040
Abstract: For multiplexing 6 binary channels for example, two transcoders are respectively fed by the groups of input channels A, B, C and D, E, F in each of which is inserted a locking and identification word. Two three-channel frames in intermediate ternary form are thus obtained. Conversion into definitive ternary code (moment +, O, -) takes place at the same time as the interlacing, moment by moment, of the two three-channel frames. The demultiplexer groups the moments pertaining to one and the same three-channel frame for transcoding. The system allows high speed multiplexing.

  • Patent number: 3969617
Abstract: In a modulator of the type including a memory in which coded binary words representative of samples of a cycle of a sinusoidal signal are stored, which coded words are used to synthesize the modulated signal, the bits of each input digital signal S.sub.i are grouped in groups of P.sub.i bits (P.sub.i .gtoreq.1) and the sampling of the groups is so performed that several samples of each group appear in the multiplexed signal resulting from the sampling. Each sample of each group causes the reading of a coded word. This process gives a wide range of possibilities as concerns the transmission speeds of the input channels and the choice of the carrier frequency and of the number of modulation levels for each modulated signal.
