Abstract: A calibrated aerosol source (“CAS”) and related methods for parameterizing, testing, troubleshooting and/or calibrating an instrument (e.g., photometers) or a system. Preferably, the CAS allows for generation of multiple concentrations while maintaining constant particle size distribution (PSD) for all aerosol concentrations, so that the aerosol response at other points in a particular range can be verified and linearity that was previously assumed can be proved.

Abstract: An analyzing probe for insertion into numerous different environments to determine at least one characteristic of particulate matter suspended in a fluid stream of a test sample. Preferably, the analyzing probe includes a minimal amount of optical elements such as lenses that are subjected to the conditions of the environment of the fluid stream to be tested. Further, the analyzing probe is preferably designed so that it can be readily manufactured, operated and installed by relatively unskilled laborers.

Abstract: The present invention is direct to a method and apparatus for removing moisture from a test sample. A removable drying agent container having a plurality of drying agent particles is employed with a drying member so that the drying agent can be readily installed in and removed from the drying member.
