  • Patent number: 8708098
Abstract: A support membrane designed to be arranged with a covering that can be applied to bearing areas such as floors or even under and on concrete screeds for a floor is provided. Said membrane can also be used in the composition of ceilings and in the composition of residential walls. The membrane includes a base layer made of fibers and designed to be arranged directly on the bearing area so as to absorb sound waves and to level the irregularities of the bearing area, a vapor barrier-anchoring membrane, and optionally an underlay designed to receive the covering and provide an anchor for the finishing products. Said support membrane is characterized in that the vapor barrier-anchoring membrane thereof is applied in liquid form by hot-melting directly on the base layer and on the underlay whenever the latter is used.

  • Publication number: 20110030266
Abstract: An apparatus for killing insects, the apparatus including one or more host targets for attracting flying insects using one or a combination of ultraviolet light, halogen light, heat, and chemical sensory emissions attractive to flying insects; upper and lower housings connected in a manner to establish a vertical separation to accommodate an air column open to the atmosphere; and one or more insect capture assemblies located to receive the air current having a mesh or other means dimensioned to separate insects from the air current of the air column. The air column is generated by one or more air current generators in the upper and/or lower assemblies to produce a uniform air current open to the atmosphere and flowing vertically at an increased relative speed to the atmosphere thereby creating a zone of differential pressure where the pressure is lowest at the interface between the air column and the atmosphere and increases to atmospheric pressure radially at a distance away from the air column.

  • Patent number: 5457898
Abstract: A metatarsal guard inserted in the upper of a safety shoe is made of plastic and defines an arch extending from the sole of the shoe on one side of the wearer's instep to the sole on the other side of the wearer's instep. The metatarsal guard includes a rear impact-absorbing portion having longitudinal slits cut in the sheet material to form a transversal series of longitudinal tongues that spread apart to follow the movement of the foot when the wearer is walking. An integral flap is formed in the sheet material at the distal end of the central tongue. This central tongue is folded to apply the flap to the top surface of the tongues and thereby distribute the load upon the impact of a falling object. The metatarsal guard is further provided with two lateral slits cut in the sheet material and extending transversely to facilitate flexion of the metatarsal guard upon flexion of the wearer's foot.
