  • Patent number: 6028191
Abstract: A method for obtaining sulphated polysaccharides using the free radical depolymerization of a fucan from Phaeophyceae in the presence of a metal catalyst and of hydrogen peroxide is described. The method of the invention provides polysaccharide fractions with a molecular weight of 10,000 g/mol or less, with anticoagulant properties.

  • Patent number: 5321133
Abstract: The invention relates to sulphated polysaccharides obtained from fucuses extracted from pheophyceae. The molecular weight of these polysaccharides is greater than 5 and less than 40 Kda; their sulphur content is greater than that of the original fucus and they contain less than 0.15% of contaminant proteins. Applications as anticoagulant and anticomplementary agents.
