Abstract: In a medical compression apparatus and a compression part therefor, the compression part has a number of access openings therein allowing an instrument, such as a biopsy needle, to be inserted through one of the openings into a body part compressed by the apparatus. The compression part allows the access openings to be alterable in size and/or shape.

Abstract: A stereotactic auxiliary attachment for a tomography apparatus for conducting a tomogram-guided biopsy of a female breast has two compression plates arranged to be movable toward one another for fixing the breast therebetween, with through-holes arranged in the compression plates enabling a guided access of a biopsy needle to the breast through the compression plates. The through-holes in at least one of the compression plates are arranged obliquely relative to a surface normal of a compressing surface of that compression plate thereby permitting access to all regions of the breast tissue.

Abstract: A stereotactic auxiliary attachment for magnetic resonance examinations has an antenna arrangement for receiving magnetic resonance signals from an examination space, a holder for fixing an examination subject in the examination space and a marker arrangement in the detection region of the antenna arrangement having at least one chamber for containing a substance to provide a reference for localizing an object of interest in the examination subject. The at least one chamber is connected via lines to a refilling device. The refilling device is provided for filling the at least one chamber with a first substance or second substance, the two substances having different magnetic resonance behavior. The chamber is filled with one substance for production of a first MR tomogram, and this substance is then removed from the chamber and replaced with the second substance for producing a second MR tomogram.

Abstract: A stereotactic auxiliary attachment for a tomography apparatus for conducting a tomogram-guided biopsy of an examination subject has two compression plates for fixing the examination subject therebetween, with through-holes arranged in each compression plate enabling a guided access of a biopsy needle. An optical marking system is provided which optically marks the through bore most suitable inserting and guiding the biopsy needle for the biopsy, after the location of the lesion has been identified in a tomogram.

Abstract: A stereotactic auxiliary attachment for a nuclear magnetic resonance tomography apparatus for use in conducting mammographic examinations wherein a needle localization of a breast mass or needle marking of a breast mass are implemented with high precisions includes two parallel compressions plates mounted so as to be displaceable relative to one each other, and between which an examination subject such as breast, can be compressed. At least one of the plates has a reception coil of the magnetic resonance tomography apparatus allocated thereto, and at least one of the plates has holes therein for the introduction of a biopsy or marking needle. One of both of the plates can be provided with markings which are identifiable in the magnetic resonance image (tomogram).
