  • Publication number: 20040204531
Abstract: A composition containing from 88 to 99.99% by weight of a polyamide, a compound of a polyamide and mixtures of these, and from 0.01 to 0.25% by weight of a flow aid where the drying loss from the flow aid after 5 days of conditioning at a relative humidity of 95% is less than or equal to 1%, determined by ISO 787/2.

  • Publication number: 20040180980
Abstract: The present invention relates to a sinter powder composed of polyamide which also comprises PMMI, PMMA, or copolymers with PMMI, in particular PMMI-PMMA copolymers, to the use of this sinter powder for laser-sintering, and also to moldings produced from this sinter powder. The moldings made from the powder of the invention have marked advantages over conventional products in their appearance and in their surface quality, especially as far as roughness and dimensional stability during selective laser sintering (SLS) are concerned. In addition, moldings produced from the sinter powder of the invention also have better mechanical properties than moldings based on conventional nylon-12 powders, in particular in terms of modulus of elasticity and tensile strength. These moldings also have a density close to that of injection moldings.

  • Publication number: 20040140668
Abstract: A method for connecting a plastic pipe to another plastic part, wherein an outer layer of the plastic pipe and an outer layer of the other plastic part are largely opaque to laser light, in which both the plastic pipe and the other plastic part are sheathed at the ends by an adaptor made of a plastic transmissive to laser light, and the adaptor is fastened by means of laser welding. In other embodiments, an adaptor of a material transmissive to laser light is molded together with another plastic part by a two-component injection-molding process, or the adaptor is molded and then overmolded to the other plastic part. This is followed by insertion of the pipe into the adaptor and fastening of the pipe to the adaptor by laser welding. The invention also relates to the composite parts produced according to this method.

  • Publication number: 20040138363
Abstract: A sintering powder containing polyamide polymer and titanium dioxide particles, a process for laser sintering, and moldings produced from the sintering powder. The moldings formed using the powder of the invention have improved surface quality due to the powders having increased yellowing resistance when exposed to thermal stress during laser sintering. Moldings produced from the sintering powder have improved mechanical properties, in particular modulus of elasticity.

  • Publication number: 20040137228
Abstract: A process of selective inhibition of bonding (SIB) to produce three-dimensional objects is used to obtain high-quality moldings. High-quality moldings can be produced by using pulverulent materials which have a median particle size of from 10 to 200 &mgr;m in which at least one polymer or copolymer selected from polyester, polyvinyl chloride, polyacetal, polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, polycarbonate, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), PMMI, ionomer, polyamides, copolyester, copolyamides, terpolymers, or ABS, or a mixture of these, is present.

  • Publication number: 20040106691
Abstract: A sinter powder containing a polyamide and metal soaps, in particular particles of a salt of an alkanemonocarboxylic acid. A process for laser sintering, and to moldings produced from the sinter powder. The moldings formed using the powder have advantages in appearance and in surface finish when recyclability in the selective laser sintering (SLS) process is taken into account. Moldings produced from recycled sinter powder have improved mechanical properties, in particular in the modulus of elasticity and tensile strain at break.

  • Publication number: 20040102539
Abstract: A laser sintering process produces a body in the shape of a block which contains the desired components and non-irradiated powder which remains with the components in the block until the molding is revealed, or its covering is removed. The non-irradiated powder can be used in a further forming process (recycling) after sieving and addition of virgin powder. The sintering powder includes a polyamide to which organic carboxylic acids have been added as regulators to permit preparation of a polyamide powder with almost constant solution viscosity, capable of repeated use in a laser sintering process without addition of virgin powder.

  • Publication number: 20030124281
Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid or vapor conducting system containing an attachment cohesively bonded to a hollow article by way of a coextruded multilayer composite and a method for bonding single- or multilayer hollow plastic articles to attachments. Within the present invention the attachments include: attachment nipples, threaded necks, closure caps, and valves; and the bond is made with the aid of a semifinished or finished product produced from a coextrudate.
