  • Patent number: 9613420
Abstract: A method for locating a camera and 3D reconstruction of its static environment, comprising an object of interest, the 3D model of which is known, includes: calculating an initial pose of the camera in the environment and an initial reconstruction; calculating the pose of the camera for each new image by pairing 3D primitives of the environment with 2D primitives of said image and reconstructing 3D primitives of the environment by triangulation; and simultaneously optimizing the poses of the camera and 3D primitives by minimizing a reprojection error over a plurality of images. The 3D model is a geometric description of the object of interest, the reprojection error has only two types of terms, a first type associated with primitives constrained by the 3D model and a second type associated with primitives of the environment other than the object, the optimization associating the primitives with the environment or 3D model.

  • Patent number: 7398928
Abstract: A coded target used in photogrammetry, the target being circular and including at least two concentric coding rings with at least two equal angular sectors, arranged around a central area including a central disk with a uniform color surrounded by a ring with a complementary color, itself surrounded by a ring the same color as the central disk. A photogrammetry process automatically detects and identifies targets.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 21, 2003
Date of Patent: July 15, 2008
    Assignee: Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique
Inventors: Francois Gaspard, Sylvie Naudet, Eric Noirfalise, Patrick Sayd
  • Patent number: 7092562
Abstract: In this system, three-dimensional objects (1, 5, 6) in an environment that may be very complex are discerned by identifying their simple contour shapes on images, and the geometric characteristics of these objects and their positions and orientations are then measured. Contours are defined by simple length, inclination, position parameters, etc. The acquired knowledge of the environment is used in each new image to refine the estimates, while introducing new object contours that have appeared, into the model.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 26, 2001
Date of Patent: August 15, 2006
Assignees: Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique, Compagnie Generale des Matieres Nucleaires
Inventors: Marc Viala, Sylvie Naudet, Patrick Sayd, Laurent Cohen, Arnauld Dumont, Frédéric Jallon
