  • Patent number: 4470320
Abstract: A joystick assembly includes a relatively soft plastic frame and a relatively hard shaft extending through an opening in the frame which is dimensioned to accommodate limited pivotal movement of the shaft. A metal wear member is insert molded in the frame and has an aperture therethrough congruent with the opening in the frame to limit movement of the shaft and prevent wear of the frame around the opening therein. Three different shapes of opening are disclosed for different ranges of pivotal movement.

  • Patent number: 4463237
Abstract: A pushbutton assembly for a switch includes a cylindrical housing having an axial bore therethrough, one end of the housing being enlarged to define a cup-shaped cavity communicating with the bore. An elongated tubular actuator body is reciprocally movable in the bore. At one end of the body and received in the cavity is an inverted cup-shaped head having an end wall and a cylindrical side wall. The other end of the body is bifurcated to define flexible legs. An annular recess in the body adjacent to the upper ends of the legs receives an annular projection on the body for limiting axial movement of the actuator. Unitary with the head are three elongated flexible resilient bias members engageable with the housing for resiliently biasing the actuator to a normal rest position. Two embodiments are disclosed, one in which the bias members are intergral with the head side wall and another in which the bias members are integral with the head end wall.

  • Patent number: 4454397
Abstract: A push button switch assembly includes a base having an internally threaded aperture therethrough and a cylindrical housing closed at one end by a circular end wall having a cylindrical bushing portion which is threadedly engaged in the base aperture. A mounting member surrounds the bushing portion and is clamped between the base and the housing, the mounting member having resilient arms respectively received in corresponding recesses in the housing and projecting therefrom adjacent to the other end of the housing for resilient gripping engagement with an associated support wall in which the assembly is mounted. An actuator reciprocates in the bushing portion and is coupled to a push button disposed at the open end of the housing, the actuator engaging the contact means of a switch which is secured between attachment members on the base. Two different bases are provided for respectively mounting a microswitch or a leaf switch.

  • Patent number: 4453060
Abstract: A covered leaf switch assembly includes a switch body having resilient switch blades. A molded plastic cover includes an elongated sheath for receiving the blades therein and a coupling portion for interfitting with the switch body. In one embodiment the coupling portion has a pair of arms with fingers and ribs receivable in complementary grooves and notches on the switch body. In another embodiment the coupling portion includes a jacket frictionally receiving the switch body therein.

  • Patent number: 4419555
Abstract: An illuminated push-button switch assembly includes a tubular housing closed at one end thereof by a base member having a lamp receptacle disposed within the housing and switch-mounting arms disposed externally of the housing. A leaf switch is mounted between the switch mounting arms and the leaf contacts thereof extend through an opening in the base member into the housing alongside the lamp. A cup-shaped actuator is disposed for longitudinal movement within the housing and has a pair of legs respectively extending through complementary openings in the base member and respectively surrounded by helical compression springs for resiliently biasing the actuator to a normal rest position. The actuator has a light-transmitting cover which covers the other end of the housing. A cam surface on the actuator cam-actuates the switch contacts upon depression of the actuator button.

  • Patent number: 4382166
Abstract: A joystick apparatus includes a tiltably mounted tube and a rod reciprocally movably axially therethrough. The tube has a frustoconical first actuator at one end thereof for operating engagement with a selected one or more of a plurality of first switches as the tube is tilted. The adjacent end of the rod carries a part-spherical second actuator for operating engagement with a second switch when the rod is extended from the tube, the shape of the second actuator keeping it in proper operating relationship with respect to the second switch regardless of the position of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4373123
Abstract: The mounting structure includes a block having a bore therein and a stud thereon, their axes being substantially parallel. A leaf spring switch has two leaf springs carried by a body having a pair of bores. The surfaces of the block and the body are in juxtaposition, with the stud extending into one of the bores in the body and a threaded fastener extending through the other of the bores in the body and into the bore in the block.

  • Patent number: 4324403
Abstract: The post assembly comprises a one-piece post which includes a body portion with a plurality of legs protruding in one direction and having an axial bore therethrough. The legs are adapted to be forced toward one another so that they can be inserted into the opening of a playfield board of a pinball game. The assembly also includes a plug insertable in the bore from the top and then into the space between the legs to force them outwardly for embedding lateral teeth on the legs into the wall of the opening in the playfield board to hold the post in place. A lug at the top of the plug extends above the post and passes through a hole in a coverr plate and has fastening structure to accommodate a push-type fastener.
