  • Patent number: 5138540
Abstract: A variable light distribution type headlamp which provides an optimum irradiated beam pattern under all driving conditions. The headlamp includes a projector lamp, a fixed lens, and a movable lens disposed on the optical axis of said projector lamp forward of said projector lamp. The movable lens is a condensing lens, and the fixed lens being a cylindrical concave lens. The focal length and a range of movement of the movable lens are such that front focal points of the movable and fixed lenses coincide when both lenses are close to each other. A lens drive mechanism controls the position of the movable lens in both X and Y directions so as to respectively control the amount of beam diffusion and beam direction in accordance with the vehicle speed and steering direction.

  • Patent number: 5068768
Abstract: A variable light distribution type automobile lamp capable of varying the range of diffusion of a flux of light by changing the position of one of two cylindrical lenses. Flat areas are formed at the centers of both lenses to produce a spot beam at the center of the ouput light flux. The lenses are aligned with one another using this spot beam. The invention also provides a device for varying the distance between the lenses in the direction of the optical axis without rotating the lenses relative to one another.

  • Patent number: 5060120
Abstract: A variable distribution type automotive headlamp employing a bulb of a single-filament type positioned on the optical axis of a reflector. The reflector is constituted by a main reflecting surface having a focal point substantially at the position of the bulb and a pair of subsidiary reflecting sources provided on the main reflecting surface so as to be left-and-right symmetrical with respect to the optical axis. Both the subsidiary reflecting mirror surfaces are opposed to each other so that the optical axis of each of the subsidiary reflecting mirror surfaces is inclined relative to the optical axis of the main reflecting surface within a horizontal plane and within a range of from 45 to 80 degrees. The distance between the optical axis of the main reflecting surface and each of the subsidiary reflecting surfaces is made longer than that between the center of the main reflecting surface and the focal point thereof.

  • Patent number: 4868723
Abstract: A car number plate lamp having an improved illuminating efficiency and more uniform illuminating intensity. A light source and lens are provided in a lamp body, and a lens is mounted across an opening in the lamp body. The reflector is three-dimensionally curved in such a manner that the entire surface of the reflector viewed in the longitudinal direction curves circular-arcuately about the light source. The surface perpendicular to the longitudinal direction forms a paraboloid with the light source at the focal point. Concentric steps for refracting the light from the light source to the number plate are formed in the inner surface of the lens.

  • Patent number: 4722023
Abstract: A lamp assembly is disclosed as adapted for use as a supplemental high mounted stop lamp for motor vehicles. A lamp body has a paraboloidal reflector for producing parallel rays of light from a source mounted therein. For reducing the axial dimension of the lamp body to a minimum, a generally planar lens is mounted at its open front end, with the lens having a multiplicity of prism elements formed on its outer surface for internally reflecting the parallel rays in a direction at a considerable angle to the axis of the reflector. Additional embodiments are disclosed for imparting both lateral and vertical divergence to the light beam emitted, and for producing two vertically overlapping light beams.

  • Patent number: 4501795
Abstract: Magnetic recording particles (i) are coated with a reaction product of (ii) an isocyanate compound such as polyisocyanate compounds and isocyanate compounds having a hydrolyzable alkoxysilane group, and (iii) a phosphoric ester of an alkanol, alkenol, alkylene oxide additives thereof or aliphatic carboxylic alkylene oxides.
