  • Patent number: 6559794
Abstract: A position determining system, a receiving system, a method of determining the position of a movable object and a method of receiving data regarding the position of the movable object are provided. The position determining system comprise a position determining unit, a display unit and a controller. The position determining unit determines the position of a movable object based on position information sent from GPS satellites. The display unit displays the position of the movable object which has been determined by the position determining unit. The controller controls a time interval at which the position of the movable object is determined by said position determining unit, in accordance with a degree of position change occurring in the position to be displayed on the display unit. Accordingly, in the position determining system, elimination of consumption power can be realized in a position determination process which is not necessarily performed, while the system is advantageously handled.

  • Patent number: 6246959
Abstract: A positioning apparatus is arranged by a timepiece unit which is continuously operated, and also a GPS (global positioning system) receiving unit which is operated only when a present position of the own positioning apparatus is measured. A first counter for producing reception timing is provided in this GPS receiving unit, and a second counter is provided in the timepiece unit so as to stop the GPS signal receiving operation by this GPS receiving unit. After the second counter is synchronized with the first counter, the power supply of the GPS receiving unit is turned OFF. When the GPS receiving unit is restarted, the first counter is synchronized with the second counter.

  • Patent number: 5410369
Abstract: If it is determined that a current time when a power switch is operated manually is equal to or close to a reservation time indicated by preset reservation time data, a power source automatically starts supplying a power source current to individual circuits of a broadcasting receiving apparatus main body. Otherwise, supply of a power source current to the individual circuits is not performed. This prevents a receiving unit from unnecessarily receiving a broadcasting electric wave. When completion of broadcasting of all broadcasting contents of a broadcasting program is detected, the power source stops supplying the power source current to the individual circuits of the broadcasting receiving apparatus main body. This also prevents the receiving unit from unnecessarily receiving a broadcasting electric wave.
